I was at the Grands in Tulsa for the BMX race this past weekend and saw this Decoster bike for sale in the swap section. I don't know anything about them at all, it just caught my eye and I thought I would share it for some of you that might think it's cool.

They were made by Mongoose and sold with Roger's decal set.

Those were in the early days, as evidenced by the coaster brake tab under the chainstay.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Looks like a Supergoose. Restored '82-'84 models fetch quite a fee on Ebay. $2,500-$3,000 or so. I didn't know about the DeCoster model. Pretty cool.

Seems like it was a good price at 750 if they're going for 2500 - 3000 on ebay

Update - I just looked and I didn't see any near $2,500 on Ebay. I know I've seen them in the past but it may have been back when our economy wasn't in the crapper.

Mint condition JMC's, Race Inc, Hutch's, etc sell for that much but not Mongoose's.

Would have been cool to meet up with you guys.My son rides for Supercross in the 19-27 expert class. Made all 5 mains, good weekend but, not exactly the way he wanted to finish his amateur racing. Did your son race Hvaughn88? What class did you race UpTiTe?

I had a 1977 Roger DeCoster long frame with Redline forks and yellow Skyway Tuff wheels. I also fitted it with an Ashtabula long crank. The frame kits were built for Schwinn and sold only in Schwinn dealerships.

$750 is probably right about top dollar for that, maybe a little more if the forks are undrilled(even though the decals are upside down) and if those are Two Wheeler bars(doubtful). I bet even less people here knew this ever existed, Weinert had a little more to do with these than DeCoster. In fact in 42 years of being around BMX I have never seen a picture from back then of RD sitting on or holding a frame or fork.

I have a frame and fork that I've been planning on mounting on wood and having "The Man" sign for the last 20 years, guess I better hurry up and get on it the next 10 or so before he retires and gets harder to corner.

My son raced 19-27 ex but didn't have near the success your son did. If your son made all his mains he is faaaast.

Cool bike for sure. Did a bunch of trading as a kid to acquire a set of box bars and a Ashtabula stem like on the Decoster bike.

If you want to re live your child hood or later go to bmxmuseum.com and you can look at just about every box bike ever made. I spend hours upon hours on there. I just sold a 85 GT Mach One like I had as a teen a few months back. Besides a couple of mid school frames all I have is a modern bike built up with all of my son's signature parts.

No, he didn't race this year. We had never been before so we just decided to go as spectators this time and then shoot for next year. Man, congrats on your son making the mains. That class was impressive! By the way, what an experience. I'd been told how much of a madhouse that place is, but you really don't comprehend it until you walk in the doors. I'd never seen so many kids in one place ripping around on scooters, hover boards, trikes, etc.

I remember those bikes. I raced a little bit when I was 12-14 years old, but didn't get too carried away. I had a PK Ripper (SE Racing) when I quit, but had a factory/team issue Gary Little John bike when I was 12.( I bought it from one of the kids that raced for them) I'm sure they would be worth a few bucks the days......

It's cool that you liked it. We have gone 5 times over the last 15 years. The grands is a great place to make memories with your kids that will last forever. Win or lose its a great experience......Thx for the compliment UpTiTe, he's going A Pro at the vegas Sothpoint race. Should be fun and a different challenge for him.

Wish I would have known all you guys were there, could have had a vital meet up, we are still driving home from grands now. Great year again, not quite finishes I hoped for but go a little deeper every year.

I used to have a hutch as a kid a chrome 85 year the judge with bear trap pedals aka shin bleeders. My friend had a hot pink n white hutch trickstar another friend had the hot pink n white gt performer with the mag wheels. Last bike i had was a 95 se racing assassin. The hutch was my favorite a close second was this yellow kuwahara.
