Agree, never know DV's back story, but that guy is my f'ing hero! What he went through is amazing, and we're only half way through the story! Cannot wait for Part 2, so relistening to Part 1 again because it was THAT good!

I got halfway through it. Planning to finish part 1 tomorrow. DV was a guy I have always been a fan of and after hearing more about his background, I respect him even more. Looking forward to the rest.

I used to trick or treat at DV's house when I was kid in Murrieta, was always super nice and it was pretty dam cool to tell my Buddys at school I got candy from DV haha didn't know his back story, pretty gnarly. How can anyone not like DV

I met DV in 2003 in France whilst on a riding holiday.

We went to a race day there to spectate, I think it was a youth national championship, something quite high-profile.
Christophe Pourcel won the 85 class by a mile!

Fantastic track, great elevation. We stayed overnight and rode it the next day.

DV where was that track??

DV is such a prime example of the commitment and hard work that it takes to get to these guys level.

I always like hearing from the guys who have not only been there and done it but really, really understand the science and the finer points behind it.

That was great.
Cant wait to hear part 2.

I was at the KIngdome in 98 the night he won on that FMF YZ 125.
I remember seeing him walking around wearing a sweater(I think) had no clue who he was. Smile

I could listen to DV tell stories all day long. It’s never enough.

Thanks for doing this DV. You’re one of the best hands down on a mic.

Watched 02 bar to bar last night. Forgot how killer DV was in the first two rounds of SX that year. He had a really different style to guys back then.

First time I’d heard of him was that night. Remember him throwing down on the parade lap to win over the fans.

Legend.

It was great. I did have to go back and look at the Sacramento temperature on May 21, 2000 and it was 98 degrees, not 115. Still freakin' hot! But like all racers as they age...they used to be faster, it used to be hotter, the whoops were bigger and they trained harder!

I lived across the street from him when he bought his first house here. In the interview, he talks about someone telling him to go to the sears outlet to buy appliances and I’m almost positive that was my dad who told him.

DV was as good of a guy to me and my family as you could hope. I was like 10 years old at the time and a huge fan of motocross. Dave took me to the Yamaha test track with him multiple times, gave me a full set of signed fox gear, built a toy motocross track in the dirt in my backyard with my younger brother, and would regularly play basketball with me and my neighbors.

This is one of the best episodes of WTS yet. DV has such a good memory about his entire career.

I was there too, first time I saw anyone do a heel clicker. I knew he was gonna be a problem in the 250 class after watching that race.

I listen to podcast twice all the time. During a 4 hour show you tend to miss a few things. Plus I drive a lot for work and music gets old.
