My comments take a different path.
I listen to almost every MX podcast available. When I heard Ping mention the DH podcast I wasn’t excited. I knew DH was a reserved person and on his last (presumably) pod cast he didn’t have much to say.
Bottom line: Ping, you knocked it out of the ballpark relative to getting a reserved guest to open up and share his trials and tribulations. Great job as a host!

I'm about 1/2 way through and it's great! He has such a great memory of events. I like his personality. Lots of eye openers about the era, especially the lack of sx practice tracks for both Huffman and Ping.

What an interview. From his MX/SX days, to his off-road days (and respect for it), and his stories / challenges with serving for the LAPD. I've had that "street bike ride home" (he recollects) and I'm all the better for it too. Thanks Ping for being light (if any) on the editing and thanks Damon for being candid. Much respect.

It’s about time the most Dominant 125 sx rider gets on the show. I,m not a statistic guy but Damon has more podiums than any other rider. I scrolled threw all the Whiskey Throttle shows and I don’t see it anywhere.

I’m only maybe halfway through, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it so far. The part about the shock that would stiffen up under high RPM’s is pretty wild

It was an awesome interview. Loved hearing his LAPD stories. Glad DH is in a good place making his community a better place. I can’t imagine all the stories he has. Another legendary podcast with a great from our sport. I was bummed it was over and left wanting more police talk tbh.

Ah Cool I,LL wait for that. 96 Red Bud stands out Damon 1st race after knee reconstruction 4 months maybe. I had a freshly blown acl myself. I went back to work in 3.5 months I figured he can do it so can I. Holeshot his qualifier after the ski jump old section threw the valley. Was awesome herring the 125 engines work threw the valley into the step up. Damon looked extremely stylish and so smooth. Your last show I watched was of Casey Johnson one of your best. He seems really cool yet. Thank God he survived his trucking spell. Casey mentioned batting with Damon That it was huge. And yourself I,m sure you had some time near Damon on the track. Even getting passed by Damon you got to b thinking. Dam that dude has style, better get my elbows up. Haha

Ping ! thank you so much!
great Podcast. I remember Damon but wasn't too thrilled about the interview initially.
Great talk, kept me very entertained!
haha never judge a book by its cover, that saying is true!

Loved the honesty and have even more respect for your job and Damon's.
Thank you for your service and commitment, you both have my admiration.

I enjoyed how open he was about his contracts .. “you’re going to notice a trend here”. He left a lot of money on the table by having his buddy negotiate his contracts.

I think I'll remember and think about that one longer than the others. He seems more relatable than most champs. A regular guy becomes one of the best racers in the world and then right back to a regular guy. The same struggles in life that we can all relate to (parents, pressure, alcohol, uncertainty, family). I admire his ability to be so awesome on a bike in so many disciplines and having the guts to try just about every discipline at the top level and succeed.

I hope I get pulled over by him one day. I'll turn my radio off, roll my windows down and put my hands on the wheel and tell him that I learned that on the WTS. Oh, and I'm going to start riding the first two practice laps standing up Ping!

Great interview, Ping!! What a humble and gracious former superstar trying to help the public! I always enjoyed watching him race and hope he can remain safe and get to his retirement with the LAPD like he hopes!

Look at all those Zuks up front. Amazing how good the 125 Suzuki's were (even if MXA gave them a bad rep) to where they are now...

I'd argue with anyone who tried to tell me that moto is cooler now than it was then. Such an awesome picture.

Top 3 show of all time. Great stories from testing in the street to Caveman funny stuff. Who rode the track already. Haha Berluti really cool guy, The Tritler story, call Brian I can’t believe they put that on a young guy. Emig and Ryno story, the next week getting a quick adjustable clutch was the biggest thing up to that point on a bike. The ATL win and beating RC in the heat at Troy was huge. Being super comfortable on a bike translates into confidence. The LAPD stories at 4.05 r crazy. 88-98 utility pipeline work east coast cities extreme violence getting showered with booze bottles etc from ghetto high rises the police tried to help. We had to pay the mob to get it stopped so we could work. In trucking we work with the police some . Had the truck shot a few times in s side Chicago . At a stoplight 1 night I put the hazards on to run back and check on a car that rolled a few times in a 25mph zone probably going 100. I almost got ran ovr twice then I see a officer arrive. She was so beautiful I stopped in my tracks. I told her I didn’t see it happen but I,L run back and check the car. She is super calm smiles and says ok. Simple task but be ready to get shot if one is injured and couldn’t run away. I check the car it’s clear but found a phone, no bag of money. I run back to her car tap a knuckle on the rear of the car letting her know it’s me. I tell her car is empty a phone is on the seat. She smiles and says thx. I tell her stay out of ingilwood area tonight , truck was shot 2 other drivers said they got shot too. She says we know there shooting it up tonight. They hv a system that tracks gun fire in the city. In daylight police r on edge even, doing paper work on a accident in a BK lot. If you come out with food 50 yards away there doing a threat assessment on ya. Me and a couple drivers could see the officer was in a bad situation 1 night. We stopped in the street walk up and told the office where here until your back up shows up. Police are trained in Chicago if they pull a knife it could b the knife that is actually a gun. Massive respect for any police officer in America . My cousins kid ex military was a e side Green Bay office on graveyard shift. She transferred and quit its just too dangerous and violent. People hv no idea of the level of violence in the country. You hv to talk and get it off your chest. But that’s tricky because no one wants to here it, male or especially females.

I’m 29, didn’t get into MX until 2003. It was way cooler back then.
