If his knees weren't shot I bet that crazy sob would still do good coming off the couch!
I hope he does the straight rhythm again on the 500.

How good were the first few laps of each moto?

The way he'd just pin that bike under those long legs and slide around WFO, holy shit that was entertaining!

His style is soooo sick. He rides a bike the way it should be ridden.

A little off topic, but Pastrana moving up way earlier than most riders do robbed us of the 125 showdown in 02 between himself and Stewart. That would have been fun to watch.

I think he hit 93 MPH in the whoops. They became mere dirt clods.

id like to ahve seen that but, i think 2002 wouldve been a tough year in 3 rd for him.

one you had reed in there on a yz250f and stewart who went 10/12. in 01 travis was already a big kid(pushin 190lbs). travis won cuz he took a ton of risks and just pinned it, and so did stewie, but travis did so with way more regularity and broke everytime he hit the ground. Stewie was at least able to recover from wrecks a little better back then

I agree that he didn't move up too early given his size, but I think he would have given Stewart and Reed fits if he'd stayed on the small bike in '02. Watching him pass Ernie and his 250F going uphill on a 125 in the first moto really proves the talent he had.

Pastarna was a bad ass. That little clip with Bobby bonds mechanic still bugs me to think what that kid could have been......he had so much skill. That one little run in with grant Langston ruined his mx career.

Binghamton 2000 was my wife's first time seeing Travis race and she was watching with her hands over her eyes half the time because she was terrified that he was gonna throw it away at any moment. That was the year he narrowly beat Roncada for the title. Pastrana was all or nothing, mostly all.

In 2005 racing the AMA Supermoto series I was TP's teammate on his Team 199.com Suzuki team. Track walks were the best. We would get to the dirt section and he would say were gonna do this or that and jump this. I think a couple times I said. "TP, you know were on slicks right?" He would just say " Ya, sit back a little more for traction" Good times. A little memorabilia from that season.

Travis was always the super talent. Nicest guy if you meet him. But seeing those 250 motos at that race. Talk about the beginning of the end for two strokes. As the four strokes pass on uphills like the two strokes dropped into neutral.

You know I always like to use my 6'5 stature as an excuse for why I am slow, then I watch him ride and all those excuses go out the window. I just don't know how he does it!!

He did it because he was willing to break every bone in his body. I think he's almost there. Poor guy is going to pay for it in his senior years

Was it Washougal 2001(???) that he rode a wheelie all the way up a hill and launched into a heel clicker? Crazy things that guy was capable of.

Nope, that was 2000. I was standing on the top of horsepower hill when he heel clicked off the top of it on the last lap.

2001 he wadded after getting sideways going into the drop after the s turns. Same year (not the only) k-dub beat RC straight up after catching him.
