That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen published in a magazine. First we got to see him on a video skimming whoops with out a helmet not to mention any other riding gear. Now it is in the magazine as a picture. People always talk about being a positive role model? I do not care how good you are that was just plain stupid.

That was actually one of my favorite mx pictures Of the last 10 years. If i remeber correctly jessica patterson was saying somthing about her bike wouldnt skim the whoops or pull through them. An DV being a no nonsense kinda guy proceeded to show her the fast line through them. I could be wrong hopefully dv chimes in.

DV has more moto ability in his pinky than 99.9% of the posters on this board have in their body. If he felt ok doing it, why should I have a problem with it?

OP, was talking about role models, not riding ability.
If you use a former pro (who's been retired from racing for almost ten years) as your baseline of what you should or shouldn't do, the problem isn't with DV...

And that's your problem how exactly?

DV is a grown man and makes his own choices just like you make your own choices. Positive role model or not if you have kids it's your job to worry about them and steer them in the right direction.

Get over it and move on.

This. No offense to DV...I'm personally a fan, but I doubt most kids coming up in the sport today even know who he is.

Is the glass half-full or empty?

He was teaching Jessica to commit!

How's that for a life lesson.

He didn't ask to be anyone's roll model. You just may have to actually talk to your child and explain that they arnt allowed to do something ,even though someone else was doing it.

What a terrible role model!...wouldn’t it be better to use the example to teach your kid about personal responsibility and choices rather than concerning yourself with what everyone else does with their freedom of choice.

Well, he is wearing boots. Could have been a lame-O and been wearing sneakers.

Seriously though, that had to be weird as shit buck naked with a photography crew snapping pics while riding a track.

Eddie Ray told the story.

Jessica couldn't skim the whoops saying the suspension was bad.
DV gets on, never ridden it, bike all tiny, bars rolled back, suspension for a girl, skims across to show the bike is fine.

Looking back to my 13 year old, highly impressionable self. If I saw that picture back then...I still wouldn't attempt to blitz a whoop section with no helmet on. Something called self preservation kicks in. Natural selection, on the other hand, would be if you had the skill set of a C rider, saw that picture, and got inspired to send it through a whoop section in your skinny jeans and man bun with your buddies filming and got all fucked up.

Go grab some Starbucks and relax bro.

It's recreational outrage.
