Just listening to this now while catching up on some work.

Love DV.

The sponsorship stuff is interesting.

I don't get how Mertz is trying to tell us the rosy picture on the sport sponsorship status like we don't have 30 years of that not happening. We literally just had a period of different sponsors come in with a few big satellite teams, H&H etc, and they all packed up and fucked off, and what's more, their competition didn't dive in and try compete at all.

And it's very well to say the energy drinks are dominating, but it's not like there aren't teams who are free and ready to go! Monster Yamaha/Kawi. Rockstar Husky. Redbull KTM. Suzuki and Honda are free, and there are 250 teams and the Nationals that would probably do unspeakable things for a massive outside the industry title.

Don't know where he's coming up with that at all... DV is right, the approach is all wrong and the sport is tiny with a bunch of problems... it's almost weird listening too a view selling it as nearly void of issues.

But...

He came across poorly... he came across as an angry man.... nobody likes an angry man.... the cursing, especially at mathes sponsors... was over the line.... I get it dv... the over the top Phoenician materialism on the pulp show is too much and quite frankly sad to see... but... his show, his mistakes...
I hear KTM customer support is top notch these days. Also, their hydraulic clutches are really good and definitely better than cable.

DV for US Mxon team manager?!?

His take was outside the box and very good once he explained it.

He was great, did a nice job co-hosting as usual.
I had that same thought too. I think it would be make or break though. He would fire up the team to a big win or run too many people off with his blunt yet correct opinion and strategy.

DV is refreshing in a society of "you hurt my feeewings" cancel culture weenies.
Can he be an ass sometimes....sure....who cares. He's got his fingers on the pulse of this sport more than most.

Don't like him....don't listen.

Just wrapped up the show and i don't understand what all the fuss is about. Thats just DV. He's one of the few people that, when i disagree with him, i still like to hear his point of view. I like to understand his angle on things. And maybe, just maybe, i may see things in a different way that i may have never thought of. Maybe not. I thought it was a great show. No frills no hold bar show.

On thing i always remember about DV. It was around 98-ish. We had the regional distribution for Engine Ice. I had emailed a few riders. DV was the only one to take the time to get back to me...
Thanks DV........ keep on keeping on!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed this episode and always enjoy DV on the show but I do agree with the people on here saying that, as a listener, there were a few points where it felt like DV was strong arming the counters to his opinions by not letting them get a word out. There were multiple times where I was like “C’mon and land the plane already!” when DV would go into a point he was trying to make and it would slowly drag on until he finally got it out and his point or story across.

Not trying to “cancel” him or say he should never be on or anything like that which is what a lot of people love to jump to when you offer any sort of criticism. Love DV, love when he’s on the show, but there are definitely areas he could improve on if we’re just being honest. The fact that he isn’t a yes man and has opposing views is what makes it a great listen. However, as a host or co-host you do gotta let your guests speak when they’re on.

Describes Americans, says it must be a French thing😅. Like it or not, us Americans are the loudmouth know it alls of the world. Don't agree with something? Just call it fake news and carry on!

DV has always been very opinionated. Anyone remember around 2000 when he had an interview in MXA and was bagging on Mcgrath? It was very controversial at the time, but he brought up lots of good points. At the time being a kid he was dissing my hero but now being an adult I don't think he was that far off. Just a man speaking his mind.

100%. I like DV(on occasion), love how outspoken he is, but man during some of those interviews I just wanted Steve to turn his Mic off so we could hear from tomac or murts.

Love the fact that DV speaks the truth. This sport is literally going no where bc of the TV viewership. All his points are valid and its what people in the industry are blind to and dont wanna hear. But with him not having any ties to anything its great.

Having said I love DV it is not very professional to talk over others just because you don't agree with them or don't respect them. Not saying DV did that because I have not listened to it. Just in general. I would guess all the top riders like and respect their agents? No?
That's the point. if you play their game you lose. Slicks talk smooth and are all about appearances. Like crooked politicians and salespeople.. DV calls the BS, he interrupts it. Why respect BS? it's a moto show, not a political debate about the fate of humanity.

Ones mans anger is another mans passion.

I would rather listen to a passionate person I didn't even agree with vs a super PC person that is scared of offending people.

Imagine if a super chill non offensive person like Cole Seely was the guest. BORING

I'm only up to the tear off segment and I've been laughing my ass off through the whole thing. To be fair, I tuned in to listen to DV not the agent to the Lawrence brothers.

I already knew that he would push for Tomac on the 250 because of the thread title on here but I liked that he baited Matthes first by asking who he would put on the 250 if it could be anyone. DV could have just said it but that was the way to sell it.

He's not a guest you can have on every week but a few times a year and just accept that he's going to talk over everyone with gold for 5 hours straight is what we need and accept.

Equally impressed that motoxxx599 knew enough French from a school in Indiana to help out a young DV trying to buy spark plugs...

Totally on point. I hate when people say "Keep an open mind." when they are discussing an opinionated person. DV wouldn't be DV if he wasn't so definitive on his opinion. Same thing with Ryno, people are not comfortable with confident people.

He also has an interest and knowledge outside of MX and SX, and it shows

Yeah, DV’s delivery is a little rough at times. Although he’s blunt, he’s being truthful. There’s no one else out there on any sort of moto podcast offering that (at least to that extent). And I can understand why none of the other “journalists” are like that… but I’ll take honesty over feel-good, fairy tale fluff pieces any day of the week.

I enjoy DV's opinion and he gives me a good laugh at times. I don't always agree with him but he is entertaining. Just like with any of my buddies when they talk smack sometimes I laugh, sometimes I'm in agreement and sometimes I tell them they are full of sh_t lol Smile

I don´t listen a lot of MX podcasts as English is not my first language and sometimes is hard to understand.

I prefer to read buuuut just two times I have listened PULPMX show and it was because of DV haha.

He is great, he says what he thinks no filter, It´s hard to be like that in these times...

He gets passionate about the sport, that´s why he was like DUUUDE don´t try to sell me ideas or hope.. the same
was with Ruthledge wood or whatever his name is... and I aprecciate that.. that shows how much he loves and knows about the sport.

I´ll wait for the next one..

I think DV is too respectable for that. Walks his own path for sure, but takes the high ground. Probably why his opinion is so valued.

Wrap up show is worth listening too for some further DV breakdown, particularly the sponsorship stuff.

Feel like i'm taking crazy pills. Chevy, Mazda, Toyota, Dodge, Bud Light, Jimmy Johns, Target, a bunch of Casinos, a few telcos were all here... before, during and after energy drinks, and now they're not...

DV is so valuable because of his actual insight and opinion on racing and the world we live in. It would be a massive wast to have him in that segment.
