Anyone here ever use a DPR cone pipe. What is neat is they appear to be "all cone" and not stamped like the beginning part of a Scalvini... and don't seem to be too highly priced considering they come from across the pond. Thinking about trying on on my YZ250... and though my PC is fine, the cone pipe just looks stellar. I just dont want a big decrease in performance or poor fit. Any opinions?
I have not had a chance to test the RM-250 as I am still mid-build but the performance on the RM-125 is better on the bottom end. Still working on testing with a V-Force reed block. I can provide an update on the 250 pipe in the next month if you haven’t bought one before then.
The Shop
(i didn't try it yet, but the fitting is not really good too).
For your YZ 250 you can try to contact Doma racing (they also make cone pipe) or Damon's pipe,
but if you have difficulties to find them, i think a scalvini is a great choice...
I've got the video below cued up to the pipe install where he goes over the imperfections and finally voices his frustrations on being unhappy with fit and finish
https://youtu.be/z66PDG1Te8c?start=911
The rear mounting bracket on the pipe is already smashed... Maybe trough transportation. Or he did it by it's own just like the blue colour on the pipe.
The bracket on the front.. ow dear it's a half inch short but the holes line up.
The exhaust springs are to tight?? Really?? It should be tight, you don't want a flapping pipe in the cylinder. That's why a lot of ktm 2 stroke pipes brake on the bracket.
Finish?? Well if you gonna heat the pipe up with a flame torche to get blue welds well that is a typical american thing.
Kickstarter hitting the pipe?? He changed that in another vid.. but i have the same with a pc pipe so whats the problem.
It should give more low end?? Really riding a smoker and you want low end.. lugging around on a hard pack in third gear. The powerband what it will give is good, nothing to complain about.
If he got a discount then the name would be told 50 times when he was working with it lol
Nothing is flawless when it's hand build that's why we are humans and not robots. Even watches from 40k can brake internal within a year.
Pit Row
The beginning 1/4 of the pipe has two small stamped sections in a tricky curved area. The rest is a true cone pipe. If you want it for looks only and just have to have a " Full cone " , and possibly a pipe that will not perform as well , then yeah , get something else. The scalvini is a pipe I will run on all my 2 strokes from here on out. I'd be more then happy to test another brand cone pipe , but I see no reason to change something that seems to work beyond perfection. Just my $0.02.
Look 10/10
Fit 9.9/10
Finish 10/10
The 0.1 point is because the kickstarter doesent go in 100% but it was worse on my PC, no shaving on the top of the pipe, it makes contact right before the frame.
Not a single mm wrong on the brackets like it was mentioned higher up, and the sound is really different from the PC, i dont know when i get the time to test the performance though.
Post a reply to: DPR Cone Pipe/ YZ250. Anyone have or tried one?
