Hello friends,
I've never been the kind of guy who had a hero.
The closest to a hero I ever had while growing up was Steve McQueen...but he was an actor with a troubled life so he is not my hero, he's just someone who was in movies and had the same passion I do....Dirt bikes!....

Still to this day, I never had a hero so it's time now.....to introduce my real life hero :

a 20 year old kid who inspires me everyday to be a better man! Ricky James.

I also admire John Wooden, I have been lucky enough to have been to his place a number of times. I also consider Jimi a person I admired, his talent and presence.

Definetly my dad. Even though hes still a hard ass towards me, I know that its to help me later on in life. He's been through a lot to. Back in 1999, he was in a BAD motocross accident. He was racing at a local track and endoed off of a jump. He hit the ground head first and then the bike hit his head and knocked him out. He was in a coma for 4 weeks. He went through months of rehab becuase he could barely move the whole left side of his body. Now he's made a full recovery, except for his quick temper that I trigger every now and then. lol. but ya.. hes been through alot in life. So thats why my dads my hero.

But as far as Motocross heros, David Bailey and Ricky James.

Ricky is close for sure. Never say Die. We could all take a page out of his book.

I think he was cut from the same cloth as this guy. Dick Hoyt.

My son who is in Iraq serving our country this Christmas, and my father-in-law who's
entire family(except my son of course) are together for the holidays. Both strong men
cut from the same cloth.

My sons.
My oldest dropped out of college to become a firefighter. He saves lives on a weekly basis.
My youngest graduated high school in June and went into the army in July. He's dropped 30 lbs and gone from a D+ high school student to an Honor Graduate of his AIT class and now is getting ready to be deployed overseas sometime this year.

My very good friend Ted Kuzinski ( no, not the Unabomber) who back in 06 helped me drop 140 lbs so I could reach my goal and race the Vet Nationals at High Point in 07. He appointed himself my personal trainer and worked with me on everything. Diet, exercise, riding etc. Merry Christmas Ted

"well normally your parents become your heroes because they have taught you the way of life in many aspects."

I too think its really good that you have your parents as heros. Good for you and them, but that's a bit of stretching to call it totally normal or necessary the right thing?

At some points, I'm sure all parents are heroes, but at one point maybe not. Say my parents are intolerant, or racists, and I become a carbon copy because I adore my parents, or I revolt towards that, and find some other person to inspire me. I would suggest the later thing would be the better?

Just trying to broaden your horizon. Nothing is totally right nor normal here.
