Grip the bike with your knees/legs.
Accelerate on the face of the jump.
Land with the throttle on.
Those are the basics to jumping.
oh yeah...." 5th gear tapped....you can't lose!"
It's a new class for Drunken racers.
Beginner
Junior
INT
Pro
Now days , most tracks just have a C , B and A class , along with age classes and bike size. There really isn't a " real " D class around here any more I don't think. And watching some of the guys in the back of the C class now days , I sure wish they would bring it back.
Pit Row
No joke, every Thursday as we were headed over to the track,we'd drive by this tavern and his truck would be there with his bike in the back.I assume he was always getting primed, because the guy always smelt like booze. So we nicknamed him Yukon Jack.
Anyways, to answer your question OP. The only stipulation I'm aware of here in the south is you get moved to C after so many wins. (5 I think?)
There was another guy who raced woodland a few times back in the day. Total beginner guy. Came up to my buddy Broc who was a fast INT and wanted some starting gate advice. Dude was looped out on coke really bad! He raced a CR500 on top of it. Broc told him to pin the throttle , sit back on the seat and just dump the clutch as soon as he cleared the concrete. The guy did exactly that...and about 30' out of the starting gate , he looped her bad! Never saw that guy again haha.
He rode an older white KTM 125 that was pretty thrashed...I forget his number and his real name.
I'll have to ask my dad sometime and see if he remembers the guys name.
yeah sooooooooo beginner huh?

As far as the D class goes, I think it's needed. Most places here in SoCal still have a beginner class. I'm sure a lot won't agree with this, but I'm all for the rules of no jumping certain things. If you are out doing all the jumps on the main track, you have no business racing beginner. If a kid goes out and beats the rest of the beginners by 7-10 seconds move him up! Same with the rest of the classes.
I'm glad I'm finally 25 and can ride the +25 class because none of the promoters will move anyone up anymore. When I was racing 450 novice a few years back, there were 2 kids a couple years younger than me that finished first and second every weekend for 3 years straight and the race promoter would not move them up. They were turning intermediate speed lap times and the rest of us were a very distance third, fourth, fifth place etc.
Back in November of 2013 I was racing the final round of a local series at Glen Helen. Some pro from Venezuela showed up that weekend and raced 450 Novice. The first moto he absolutely smoked us. His lap times were faster than most of the pros and yet the promoter let his race the second moto in 450 novice still. I ended up holeshotting the second moto, but as soon as we went up the first hill the guy yarded all of us. He destroyed us again. These promoters need to have certain rules for each class to keep the sand bagging from happening. If I were a promoter I'd have no problem loosing that one racer because he didn't like being moved up compared to losing a couple because I didn't move a sand bagger up. That's just me though
