1998 KX 250. I rebuilt my spare bike's engine, New everything.. Top and bottom end. After four rides it lost compression. I tore it down last night and the ring's are toast.. The piston look's fine, Hell, It still look's new. The cylinder has no scratches in it, But around the port's there's a half inch ring of disscoloration (As if the plating is wearing off). When I rub my finger over it I can't feel anything though. How do I find out if it need's sleeved? Could I have gotten bad ring's? I bought Kaw ring's and piston. Should I just put new ring's in it and hope for the best? I don't know what my next step is, Noone I can trust around here to help. Where should I send it off to if that is the direction I take? Thank's. Oh yea, Screw off Huck, Don't need no damn four poke!!!
I had a 2002 YZ125, brand new, that suddenly lost compression after the first few rides. Took off the head and ring was stuck in the ring land and wasnt contacting the cylinder wall at all. Zero compression.
