Anyone out there make custom air filters or have a decent database where they could cross reference some rough measurements to match up an existing filter?

Whats it off ??

We had Pipercross here in the UK make some specials for us a while back, but there was tooling involved , for the rubber stuff.

kx100 filter and cage will go rite on that i think its your works honda but get a kx 100 filter and hold it on there i bet you can drill and tap that center part and screw the kawi part rite on, but a kawi part on any honda is bad, a kawi part on a works honda could possibly make Danny Chandler strike you with lightening

Contact Paul Temmerman at dt1filter@aol.com
If anyone can make you something like that while using high quality foam, he's the guy.
Sent info to them yesterday and awaiting a reply.

Yep, it's for the RC. It could even just be round (roughly 5 3/8 in. ID)and doesn't have to be angled down the back to actually work. Not as if this thing will ever get ridden.....muchSmile

Hiflo has all of their dimensions in the back of their catalogue. I'll see if I see anything close tomorrow.

Hey Joe look at the K&N FILTERS catalogue they have many different filters and give dimensions also.

Newmann - working on a RC250 replica right now. Not a real one like yours, but as close as I can get. Stevie is making me a frame right now too for a 480 twinshock RC replica. I love these bikes - they're simply the most gorgeous bikes ever made IMHO

Joe - I have made numerous one-off air filters out of a sheet of UNI Filter foam. Cut to your dimensions and assemble.

A hot glue gun and a needle and fishing line to assemble it is pretty easy.

If that is too difficult for you, maybe Mrs. Joe is handy like that?! Whistling

And....they look "works" when you are done!

Uni Filter have always - at least here in Australia - been able to make custom airfilters. Surely they do the same in the US? They can go by dimensions of the cage if you are reluctant to send the original cage to them. Pictures of the cage with rulers for reference work well in our modern era of E commerce.

Swat, it is looking amazing. Love the look of a proper matte finish on an engine. You are going to be spinning laps on that beauty aren't you??

The matte finish can be achieved with any color by using a matte additive or by clear coating with a matte finish clear. More flattening base gets you a lower percentage of gloss. All of the automotive paint suppliers have it available for their paint lines. Experiment with it and document your usage to get the desired results and be able to duplicate it in the future. Lots of variables.

Newman - definitely. Scott is making two 250's for me. One will have an aluminum RC tank I picked up and be just for display. The one in the pics here is pure race bike. Rebuilt from ground up, even REM coated all the internals. Eric Gorr porting. Shox rebuilt by Thor. Gold valve 2014 forks with drum brake lug by Stevie, and lower legs internally hard anodized.

Newman - If you you could source a block of air filter foam, this would be an easy job for any local fab shop with a waterjet providing your dimensions

Could you please elaborate on the 2014 forks? What series would allow you to race using those?

Ha. Too funny. My friend who has never had a dirt bike but has a street bike just showed up with a 03 yz250 he got off craigslist recently. I asked him if he checked the air filter and his response was "it runs great", I asked again but he repeated the same thing. So I just took his seat off and was amazed at how bad it was. I then schooled him on proper bike maintenance. Lol I am so crazy about oil and air filters that my jaw dropped. It somehow does still run pretty good but whoa.

Newmann - you're in the body work industry correct? You can get that uni foam and make what you want. Use weather strip adheasive from your local autobody paint shop for the glue. It's very strong and holds up to gas and other solvents. We've done this exact thing before.

I'd buy some cheap 1/4 foam to do a mock up of the templates before cutting the uni foam though.. That way you can test fit/ adjust the cheap foam mock ups to make it all fit nice before using the good foam for the final filter.

My 2 cents

What about something from Loudmouth? They have a flange that can be mounted and a filter then clamps to it. I have one on my RMZ and it's slick as shit.
