Curious. Ever had your SG12’s do this?

I bought these boots brand new st the end of 2016 and have ridden a total of maybe 50 laps in them. I know I’m screwed, because I bought them from a vendor on eBay, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had a buckle strap tear at the seam like this? love the boots, but might look elsewhere next time. What do you think?

I uploaded a pic of the boot bottom just to show the lack of use.

I have seen it before. You can always try contacting Gaerne about the issue.

Yes it’s from the Kickstarter catching it when your foot slips off.

Mine SG12s tore at the top closure of the boot - not a buckle strap - after less than 10 hours. Gaerne customer support was useless - they wouldn't do a thing for me. I tried to reason with them and they just didn't care. I was shocked at the total apathy they showed. So, I had a local shoe repair place make a replacement part from leather and sew it on. Boots have been fine since, although I'm due for a re-sole soon.

My SG10 tore at the top too. Not a big deal but not something that should happen on a good boot which only had a couple of rides on them.

I contacting Gaerne about sg10 inside pivot connection problem. They responded but they didn't care if there design was flawed. Don't waste your time.

Give Gaerne a call. At the least they may be able to hook you up with 35% off a new pair if you are interested.

Every pair of SG12s ive owned (4 now?) has ended this way. I typically get 2-3 seasons out of them though.

Same happened to me but on the left boot, slipped a foot landing a jump and caught the peg. I looked into replacing that part (it's called the wishbone) but never bothered. I've probably put another 50 hours on them since then and they're still holding together fine and haven't got any worse. Mine is slightly further down though so the rubber is holding it together, yours might not last as long due to where it's broken.

You can buy parts on their website to fix them. Had issue myself was told to go pound sand. Good luck.

I had a buckle break within the first 30 minutes and after an hour of arguing they agreed to send me a new buckle but made it very clear they don’t normally do that

Did the same thing to my Tech 10s. It is the foot peg. I did it when I stalled my bike in a race and my boot slipped off the kick starter when I was trying to start it in a hurry. I take my time now...

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I’ll just live with it.
