Crushed Vertebra

I had compression fracture of about 20% in t5, and facet joint fractures in t5&6 last year. Was off the bike 6 months, it's not quite a year now and not quite 100%. Still gets sore if I'm standing too long.

Did this June 7th 2015 still sore everyday not sure I'll ever ride again. they say full recovery is a year I'm at 9 months. I really hope it's not gonna feel like this forever. Good luck

But I'm about to be 33 and I have kids and am the sole provider. I run a small construction company so for me it's a risk reward deal. Honestly if I didn't have all this responsibility I probably would buy a bike today and say fuck it. Still may one day but will more than likely stick to trails as this happened on an mx track.

I broke mine 25 years ago and it gets worse every day. I absolutely hate it...

T7-T8 50% compression..
I had many other injuries when I done this so I didn't really feel them more than I felt all the other injuries ( 9broken ribs and a herniated disc at L-4.
The disc was the very lingering problem
Let them heal at their own pace and other than being slightly shorter you should be fine.

Not being a jackass- I wore a Leatt and then a 661 foam (not a donut) when riding. Woods mostly. Had the worst crash of my live on my 250F ion my own track, kicker on a jump face launched me landing on my head and bike landing on me. Concussion and broken tooth, no neck injury and WAS NOT wearing a neck brace. This was in 2002.

Any of you guys wearing a neck brace when injured, and opinions?

BTW, hope your injury heals well. I have lived with neck pain for a long time from a football injury when I was very young. Hell everyone over 21 that is active lives with discomfort of some sort, glad you are up and around.

On May 2 nd of 15' .

I high sided & hit a tree off the track, I fractured L-1, crushed L-2 & fractured the spiny process on L-4!
I just got back on the bike a month ago, At 60 years old it takes a little more time to heal.

Just take your time & let your body tell you if & when you can get back on the bike.

But make sure that you build up your core to help support your weekend back! Also work on your flexibility!

Remember that everyone is different & how your body reacts to your injuries my be much different then others.

Crazy part about my injury was I didn't crash I over jumped this triple that had a really steep face and the impact from the hit broke my back. Almost whiskey throttled up the next triple I was lucky to get on the brakes going up the face or I'd probably be in a wheel chair today.

WOW the thought of breaking my back goes through my spine.

Huge respect to you guys who are unfortunate to have had this injury. A big eye opener for sure

Same here. Pain is a constant presence. With compression fractures you can get pinched nerve issues which suck very much.

same here t4, t5, t6 same thing too about my break from riding amd standing...will post some x-rays soon as i can find some. The let me go out of the hospital w/o catching it and mine healed broken.

I had a compression fracture of t11 &12. I rode about 4 months later. I was sore for about a year to year and a half on a really rough track like mammoth. I have no issues now and I did it in 1996 and still racing.

compression fractures in my T2-6 & 8 vertebrates last February. I ended up riding about 7 months later. I hurt everyday, but I refuse to give up riding. 50 this year, but am starting to feel all of the old injuries.
