Good thing he was on a 2 stroke or the next race would have lapped him.

What exactly was the cause of the crash?

it looks like the first little jump he almost crashed but then he recovered and on the next whoop he completely lost it.

Looks like to me the rear shock rebounded at the wrong time from his previous mistake.
That and his body position could of caused it.

That shock was doing something wrong there. That first double it kicked hard, then the second double it just bucked his ass! You can run n tell that!

Dude panicked and wasn't on the gas when he should have been. That's why he bounced the second time that sent him over.

I saw this right away, that's why I didn't think he was in neutral. Maybe he clicked into a false neutral?

those false neutrals are an evil bitch an can surface at the most inopportune times. I clicked third on a table face while seat bouncing only to toss the bike out of the path of my body before flatlanding hardpack with said bod... (bike missed cause I made sure I pushed it to the right while upside down)

It's amazing what survival insticts will do.

When he started putting is about the time he realised his collarbone was broken... naw j/k, I don't know, but that was the first thing I thought when I saw it.

I think under pressure he went fractionally wider than usual in the corner beforehand and hit the first jump with too much speed, which intern caused too much compression and rebound, thus throwing him forward and off balance. Without seeing the jump it's impossible to know for sure but this is generally what happens if you hit a sharp, short faced jump with too much speed.

No problem... except that he immediately has another obstacle to deal with, yet no way of dealing with it. He has lost all balance, he can't slow down and he can't opperate the throttle. Once the bike compresses and rebound's again, it's over.

That's the danger with SX and SX sections. Everything's great but as soon as you lose your centre of balance (mostly through over jumping or coming up short), you have a limited amount of time to regain it before having to deal with the next obstacle.

Ok, what do I win?

Going off the face of a jump completely tapped out on a 125 is a roll of the dice. When they stop making power on top end the power falls like a rock. Its like coasting off the jump, except you weren't planning to scrub, but rather be on the power.

See James Stewart Vegas 03' for another example. (couldn't find a video)

The first mistake caused him too get squirly body position wise and he was too far forward going in to the second set he was going to double. Clipping the top of the first set instead of getting his front wheel over it just messed up his rhythm. He didn't get his reaerend back over the rear fender. He just got bucked!

I wouldn't say it had anything to do with the rebound. If you are going through whoops at a high rate of speed and make a mistake like that, you're going to get bucked at a hard or medium rebound stting. Reminds me of the crash RC had a Vegas when he got bucked off in the exact same fashion. Then got punched in the head running back after his bike!

Wait a minute. The whoops before the finish line at Walden, and the faces were cupped out. Noooo, it can't be.

Both bikes were kicking. That means they both had bad rebound settings. I bet every rider there that day had bad settings because there is no way that the faces of those particular whoops were cupped out.

Wink.
Very typical.
