Yeah a little steep , but then again how often do you see
A 93 in that condition?

Here in Minny, not too often, I'll give him that, but he is asking a bit much imo

Problem is you cant find another like it. So you either want it and pay it or you keep waiting. 42-48 is realistic for it

more like $2500

Then you arent the target audience for it. I sold one just like it for 4500 in under a week. So it wasnt like it sat waiting for the right buyer for months.

I saw bikes a little cleaner get over 5 at VMD a few years ago.

Almost guaranteed the frame has been painted unless it was ridden in slippers. Some clutch cover wear but nothing on the frame? Awesome condition for the year but I would expect it to look a little more suspect in person.

I agree that it could be suspect, but it can also happen if the owner was just trail riding in the woods. My brother's 1988 250 yz was mint like that ... until i rode it a bit in enduro for 2 hours... (tires, tank with the knee braces, frame wear ... he was mad, but the bike was decalaminated smile )

My 97 CR back in the day wore the white frame paint off at the high spots like the welds within the first 30mins of riding.

You can ask whatever you want and you can always drop your price if someone makes a serious offer. You would be surprised what people will pay when they want something specific and once you post your price you cant raise it if you have a overly motivated buyer.cool

That's pretty far up there, 200 miles north of Minneapolis

I had a '92 and wish I didn't sell it. They were the same bike and that thing would turn.

That’s a treasure. If I had the money to blow I would!

|

9/24/2019 7:16 PM

Someone will pay that, so I see nothing wrong with the price

|

Try buying a roach and rebuilding to that condition and see how much it costs you.

Just a thought... the owner could have kept frame tape on it. I go through grip tape like it’s going out of style, and always have. Hell, I’ve had bikes with 100 plus hours and not even a blemish where boots typically rub. Other parts of the frame of course is a different story.

Worth 4500 all day in my eyes, 5200 no problems with the right buyer

These guys objecting to the price don’t understand the hottest commodity in today’s age is nostalgia. But some people just want to spew their disgust without validity or means. Makes them feel like they know better than to be hoodwinked. They don’t realize it just makes them look like a bitch who doesn’t understand market. Anyway...

Someone could look up the price, but I’m guessing he’s asking near original MSRP. Given that it still has stock everything, tires included, I would say it’s worth full MSRP.

I had one brand new back in 93....easily one of the best bikes ever with very harsh forks, RaceTech fixed the forks & bike was great. I can still remember the day I sold it back in fall of 96. Awaiting the much anticipated 97 aluminum framed Cr250.... so I raced & practiced on that bike for 4 years, I was An A rider and I rode mostly rough sand tracks. Never a gearbox or bottom end rebuild! I still see the guy that bought it off me & he tells me it was an awesome bike for him as well! I sent the seller an inquiry....Would it be great to get for 2500.00...sure.... is it worth 5k ? If it is what it looks like..... I say yes....

Not even a mark on the stunning white airbox, the spokes, rims, hubs are in show quality shape!

Not one ding, or mark on the forks, or triple tree set, the renthal bar / pad set are perfect
Paint still on levers!

I was told many years ago that the value of anything is what one person is willing to sell it for and what one person is willing to pay for it.

I could see someone paying around $5k for a very low hour 93 CR 250 in excellent condition. There is definitely a lot of nostalgia around that era bike due to McGrath.

When did 250 2-stroke prices start increasing so rapidly? It seems like it has happened over the past 3-5 years. I'm seeing well worn bikes for $2k plus. It seemed like 3-5 years ago, those same bikes were $1k.

Feel like I am on a episode of Price is Right with the Bonkers game where the four numbers of the price are on the board but they need to be rearranged for the correct price. LOL Before the hate starts, I am just having fun and giving my initial thoughts. Yes you are right I am not in the market for a low hour CR 250 like this and if I was I am sure that this price is actually quite reasonable. And I agree taking a clapped out one and rebuilding to this standard would cost more.

No response from the seller on the original CList post... may not know that the first email responding to C.list ad usually goes to your junk mail until you respond....I don’t really need another bike but if the price was right I would pick up a low hr original 93 CR anything....

|

I posted it here but I'm not the seller. That ad is all the info I had
