Ah yes it has. It was a test bike for the shop.

For $6500, I'd spend more and get a new KTM SX250. Better bike, newer, and I already have an 07 CR250, just not new.

A well known seller in the UK had a brand new 2007 CR 250 on ebay auction that made £10000 ($13000), so an 03 which is pretty much the same bike for half the cost would be a fair deal. Although when I bought the 03 in 03 it was £3500. Those CRs sure are a timeless classic to me

Hey, man. Hey! HEY!

Don't come in here making sense. :-)

You are right. It is not much more to just go get a new 2018 / 19 from a dealer.

"it was test run" not a test bike for the shop.

No doubt. That was one of the best bikes I ever owned. Can’t believe I sold it to get that new Aluminum framed 97 model. That was the worst bike I have ever owned!

My buddy bought the 96 - lives in his basement. We were all kicking in whatever we had so he could make it happen. Man did I have fun going over to the bike with my gas can all weekend asking him if he wanted to fire it up. Never has had a drop in it.

6500? For that price put a BIG chunk down on a 19 or leftover 18 model anything and owe barely anything on it. It is a very clean bike but there is some things to consider here:
- Its STILL a 03’ CR250
- A used modded CR250 completely built from ground up with every aftermarket part addon imaginable would most likely be cheaper
- Parts are available but they arent getting easier to find
- You could buy it, but it will take more money to make it YOURS and add what you want to it

Decision is up to you, personally I would put it towards a 18/19 KTM/YZ.

You guys don't understand. Nobody is going to buy this to ride it. It's a collector item meant to be put on display or added to someone's collection. For that reason it's worth it. How many other brand new 2003 cr250's do you know about?

Me personally......I think that 03' CR250 is worth every penny he's asking for it. When I bought my 06' RM250 , I would have paid that much for a brand new 06' RM250.

What can I say? Except that these older 2 strokes are what some guy's really love. I have a 17' 125 and an 18' 250 ( Both Husky's , which I dig a lot )....but my 06' RM250 has a soft spot in my heart. I love that bike more than any bike I've ever owned , including my newer 450's. And if you love 2 strokes , grew up on them , maybe you could understand my reasoning. That 06' RM will go to the grave with me when I die!

I concur on the 97' CR's. They were the worst bike I ever through a leg over. It was like riding a 2" x 12" with wheels attached. But at the time.....they sure looked trick with that big ol' space aged aluminum perimeter frame! Just rode like shit!

Some people buy bikes like this not to ride but to keep and or collect, I have bikes I ride and bikes I collect to display just because I like them. Cool

I got a 04 in the crate and a 06 rm Carmichael edition in the crate... Put dat in yer pipe n smoke it. 6500 ain't bad for something no longer being made and it will only go up in value. I couldn't believe what bikes we're bringing at Mecum... That's where mine would end up if I didn't have the boys to give them to. Little shits, my dad is broke, when he goes I'll get a huge bill my cheap ass loser brother will have some excuse not to help with and welfare sister will try to give me a fucking pan of brownies as payment... Life ain't fair Moto brothers. Hopefully my boys will take care of them and hand them down to their kids

Someone had a "never started" '06 RM 250 for sale on here back in June for $6,000 OBO. I wanted to go take a look at it and make a serious offer, but didn't hear back from the guy. I imagine he sold it....

If this CR was closer to me, I would be showing up at his door with a fist load of Ben Franklins, but I think $6,500 is still a stretch.

We had an auction last fall at a local, closing Honda Dealership. Crated, ‘07 CR250, and it sold for just under $15,000.00 + fees (CND). I was willing to go to 10-ish but it far surpassed that.
I know I know..., a new KTM, Yamaha, Husky is way less, but... it just is NOT a Brand new, crated ‘07 Honda CR250R

You guys and your hatred for the 97 CR250 ...it may not have been the BEST bike from 97-99 but it wasn't THAT bad. I bought a near brand new 97 CR250 with FC Suspension, a Devol adjustable billet link, and a PC Platinum Pipe in 2000 I paid $3500.

I actually liked the bike, not saying it was the shit but I was a decent rider back then and I thought it qas good but had its flaws being way too rigid with a seat that could crush diamonds .....but that bike had one helluva engine for sure.

$6500 out the door for a brand new 2003 CR250 is pretty close to what they went for back in 2003. I think the MSRP on the bike was like $5899 anyway so if you paid MSRP Tax and license that pretty much puts you at $6500 without "freight and setup"

If I had the money I wouldn't mind paying $6500 for that bike...not at all.
