thomasc64Some bad news this morning guys. I've just left the doctor and found out I tore my ACL in the qualification race Saturday in England. I had quite a bit of pain Sunday but didn't want to accept it. Only wanted to focus on getting USA to the podium. I'll be having surgery tomorrow morning and starting recovery as soon as possible to be ready for the 2018 season!

Covington should be extremely proud! That track was probably the worst case scenario for him and he put a 2 second faster lap time in the 3rd moto compared to Seely.
The improvements that Thomas made this year were amazing...from a rider that most Euros counted out last year for not being able to produce at any Euro GP's to being a contender every weekend regardless of the location this year...probably most improved in MX2...The last corner pass on Seewer in Sweden was the best MX2 race of the year and only topped by Tony's MXGP ride in Italy...
Thomas will be a contender for the title next year.
Even without an injury it was respectable for him to line up and give it his all. Coming from basically last to 17th with a torn ACL against the best in the world in the last moto of the weekend on the toughest track is pretty impressive
Hope he didn't read any of his fellow americans comments SMH
This also makes a great case for why some riders do not want to do this race.
i tore my pcl and a bit of my calf wth some meniscus damage playign softball. mind u im a heavier guy and was running super fast so maybe there was more enertia in it but fuck.... it took me 2 months to be able to put weight on it. the fist 2 weeks i felt pain ive never felt before and the swelling was unreal...... how the fuck did this guy ride?!?!?!?!?!?!
i hear athletes tear ligaments and sometimes dont notice....howww the foooooooooook. i didnt even want to get up to use the washroom lmao
Superb effort, loyality and determination(despite injury) to the cause of representing his country at top level in
this prestigious event.
Seems like a proper fighter (and would bet he may win MX2 World Champonship next year)... Go Thomas!!
I'll be paying attention to MX2 next year and pulling for him!
Like you guys said above , I don't get the bashing either. And going down in the mud , tearing your ACL , and still reeling in the dudes he did.....Sheeeesh! If that isn't badass , I don't know what is.
I am very excited about him and the choice he made to race gp's instead. It's kinda cool plus helps us identify with someone in that series to follow along with it and enjoy. He had a nice season and his projectory is rising.
Pit Row
Defo a bad ass and will probably get faster still- I reckon he may win the World MX2 title next year from what he did on his best days this year.
I also see an illustration of why a guy like Tomac took a pass on the weekend, its always a risk and I appreciate the guys who did take the risk to go represent the USA.
People get far to wound up about this race and who participates and what position they finish. Take a chill pill every now and then.
