Think about it....99% of the people in this world don't have a clue about the physical demands of this sport. This could be the perfect time to educate them about how extremely difficult this sport is and the top condition a professional rider must be in to be a contender.

If this whole ordeal is even true someone needs to have a story ready that details how this is quite possibly the most physically demanding sport in the world. Said story should accompany the guilty rider's press release and be sent to ESPN at the minimum.

You know what they say "any publicity is good publicity". At least someone should do their best to make it good.

Why would 99% of the public care what it takes to be a top mx contender?

You're either into the sport or not.

So you don't think people ever see or hear something about a subject and it sparks their interest to try it or maybe watch more of it?

It never ceases to amaze me how closed minded most of the Vitards tend to be.

Up until recently almost everybody in the professional cycling world has tested positive or been under suspicion of using PED's. How much credibility did that scenario add to that sport?

The logic and excuse that to be competitive at the highest level in MX you need to use PED's isn't going to get people interested in the sport, and it's definitely not going to attract family's with young children.

Add credibility? No. Exactly the opposite. The general masses already don't view MX/SX as a legitimate sport. How could the fact that there's all these mysterious wikileaks rumors within the sport about somebody popping on a drug test and the AMA or anyone else refusing to address it in any form possibly add credibility? It makes the AMA (again) look like a bunch of trailerpark yokels...just like fuelgate....just like the hall of fame voting debacle....just like any number of incidents that they should have taken immediate action on but didn't and then half assed it weeks or months later. The rumors about who it was or wasn't are a complete joke at this point so any action now is damage control like always. I'm guessing the WADA doesn't even care because at the end of the day the amount of mainstream press their gonna get out of it is essentially zero.

If the AMA or any part of this sport (that I have loved and participated in most of my life) wanted to gain credibility, they would have already addressed it head on in one of a few ways like any legitimate sport would.

They could issue something to the effect of...1. We know there are rumors about a rider and drugs...blah blah..they are just rumors, blah blah, we're looking into why/how they got started....2. Insert rider name turned up a positive drug test result at blah blah and we have taken the following course of action because drugs are bad mmm,kay and we're dropping the hammer....3. A rider who we will not name at this time tested positive on a routine drug test and we are looking into it but we're not gonna really do anything because we deperately need the exposure this guy brings to the table and it was just this one time and he was under pressure and he thought it was aspirin and he's a real nice guy....

But they don't.....and they won't, so credibility.......not so much.

LOL! As I was typing this, the press release from Yosh/SUz dropped on TWMX. Way to stay ahead of it AMA.

The whole point about gaining credibility was about educating the general sports enthusiast about what incredible athletes these guys are. Most people have no idea.

Credibility as it pertains to the AMA......FastRich is correct. It's always been a joke.

Incredible athletes or not they're on drugs. Atleast thats how it will be perceived by the general public.

In my opinion you want this sport to appeal to the most people possible.Marketing it as a great fun, family past time will go a lot further than pushing the line of "this is the most difficult and demanding sport in the history of man kind, and if you want proof of how hard it is, look our best and brighest stars need to take PED's to survive it!! wow arent we tough"

But what do i know, maybe we can be the one sport that keeps its credibility in tact in the face of a drugs scandal, god knows all the others have nearly been crippled by it at one time or another.
