Funny to see Max Anstie's dad Merv in the video. 20 yrs ago and now Max is a great rider as well.

Thanks for the video.

Sweet vid! Really cool that Geboers, RJ, and O'mara were all at the end of their careers and still dominated.

He had formed a company with some couple. I think they lost their shirts.

That was probably RJ's last moto victory. He would have gotten the overall I think, if O'show had been able to get around Geboers. O'show was all over him but just couldn't seal the deal. Geboers rode tough that day.

Talking about the displacement, idiot. Put half of today's riders on a 500 smoker and see what happens.

450 4 strokes are every bit of an open bike as a 500 two stroke.

Well, when I surmised that they had lost their shirts I meant financial shirts ... but it sounds like she may have lost the actual shirt off her back. lol Pics of that?

Anyone know if there was ever a full vid of this released. The 1991 and 1992 500 USGPs at GH were released but I could never track down anything on the 1990 event.

They would be just as fast.. Everts won a 500 GP on one in 98.. and was still winning a couple of years ago. All the top riders of today would be fast on them.

That's true, for now, but . . . can you imagine 40 500 smokers into the Talledega first turn off the start that's there now?

Regis, I know you're an ex pro, but I gotta disagree with you here. Although the 450 fourstrokes are very powerful and fast, they dont have nearly the horsepower potential of a 500 two stroke. Especially compared to the factory 500's.

1. Was JMB not there that day ?

2. I've ALWAYS held guys like RJ in high regard and it's worthy to note how he

gives proper respect to his competition - and praises them for their efforts with

genuine acknowledgment . I miss that kind of stuff.

I've probably not rode bikes as much as you guys, but I've ridden most of the

newer 450's over the last few years - and I don't recall any having that

feeling that your arms were being ripped out from your shoulders - that most

CR-500's delivered - in spades. And having said that

That arm ripping power is what I was referring to, well that and the trouble you can get into right after that arm ripping power wins round one. You couldn't ride around the tract on the old 500 smokers in 2 gears and be competitive either.

I was 10 years old that year and those guys seemed bigger than life to me....hell, still do. I saw RJ 2 years ago when he was racing the vintage races at Mid-Ohio and it was like I was 10 years old again. That guy still seems larger than life to me.

Thanks for the vid.

Geboers and RJ were all class. Love the respect they gave each other. Awesome too see. I remember standing by that whoop/jump section thingy right after the first turn, and holy crap was everyone hauling a$$ through there! It was like a violent ballet with the power and sound of those 500's!! The vid doesant do it justice.

When giants from AMA and GP meet, racing goes one step further for sure. This is why the mxDn is the most important race ever held!!!

Nascabs and F1 cars go 200, but one is far cooler than the other. The ones that sound cooler too.
