I read and enjoyed the article. I'm just not ready to give Cooper the advantage over Tomac at this point. Not sure what's going on with Kenny but his results aren't reflecting what he's capable of.

Coop definitly has consistency. His starts help him massively. But in outright speed he doesnt have tomac covered. On a track with more line choices tomac makes the pass.

Cooksey may be right, and I even posted in another thread that I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take a run at the title after this past weekend. That being said are we just going to ignore the fact that this is his first podium this outdoor season? When I think of an alpha dog I think of guys like Carmichael, Villopoto, Dungey, etc and none of those guys would ever get their first podium at round eight and be fifty points back.

Webb’s badass and he could very well win the rest of the races this year but at this point he’s won one and the rest of the season he’s hardly even been a contender.

Alpha dogs win one weekend when its a mud race AND are over 50 points out of the lead? Oh Cooksey...

Cooksey has some good points, but like I posted under his article, let's wait until one more round is over (a non-mud one, at that,) before we start handing over the title. I don't doubt that Webb could do it, but I think it's a much longer shot than some of you are thinking, especially with only four races left on the schedule.

He has consistently finished 4,5,6 most races so far and has looked to look to lack the speed and fitness of the other top guys. One good ride in a mud race where everyone else had issues isn't making me think that he is suddenly the top dog.

To add a "math with Falcon" angle, here's what it would take at this particular juncture:

Webb would need to win every remaining moto, and Tomac would have to lose 6.7 points per moto, or essentially 4th place. 4th or worse in every remaining moto is a stretch, even if Eli goes into meltdown mode.

There are still lots of races left to run. I'm stoked to see how it all turns out.

He hasn't earned the Alpha Dog Title just yet, but next year could be another story with the way he continues improving Outdoors.

On a dry track, Tomac destroys him every day of the week

Whether you like Webb or not, he has an amazing ability to fight back after he's been passed. I'm always amazed how hard of a charge he puts on to try and regain his position. He just finds another gear and charges back. I think he'll keep improving outdoors especially with a new boost of confidence from last weekend.

I wouldn't call him the Alpha Dog of the outdoors, but I would call him the Alpha Dog of counter attacks

Actually Tomac walked away with a 38 point lead over 2nd place. Tomac is on his way to his THIRD outdoor title in a row.

Webb....Has ONE outdoor podium in 3 years of racing on the big bikes and he’s the Alpha Dog?????

I bet your parents are ready school to start back and hope you pass 5th grade this year.

want to know why Webb isn't anywhere close to an Alpha yet?

Because every race i'm still questioning which Webb is going to show up. Is he going to be running up front or fighting to hold 3rd -5th?

When I start becoming more surprised that he doesn't win or podium, then I will start considering him as one of the Alphas, but he has a ton of work to do yet to knock off Tomac, Kenny, and MM.

The next 2-3 years will be pivotal for his career. Webb is dangerous with confidence but equally questionable when off.

Him winning last weekend is inconsistent with his other outdoor results this season (and last)...

Yet.... You argue how consistent he is.... Lol

We don't really have an "alpha dog" in our outdoor series at the moment. Eli seems able to win but hasn't been dominant. Webb is crazy fast but alpha level...not close yet. Carmichael and Villopoto were Alphas. Dungey had his alpha time. I don't consider Eli an alpha...yeah, he's got titles but he's not owning the field.

Let’s be honest though...
When Tomac is “ON” his game, nobody can go his speed !

There is 5 guys that can dominate a race on their good days. Webb happened to have “his” day last weekend. Wink

Webb has one 450 outdoor podium in his entire career.

Osborne has 4 in the past 6 races.

After reading the article, I'd say that he's lucky that Vital isn't conducting random drug tests on their employees/contributors.......!

Pump the brakes a little. Tomac is a two time 450mx champ. Webb finally won his first Moto and overall in the great outdoors.

This sounds like what was said after his first SX win. It’s too late this season, but like I said before, aside from Tomas raw speed, Coop has all the tools to win championships.

I’m a fan of Webb for several reasons. He’s not an “alpha dog” and we haven’t had one in the US since Villopoto retired.

It’s a long shot for sure, but this is exactly what I saw in Supercross at A2. The Alpha dog is how he fights for every inch, of course Tomac, Roczen and Musquin have more raw speed but Webb uses his tenacity and finds ways to win. That’s Alpha!

Webb was (blessed, lucky, fortunate, etc) that both tomac and musquin came into the season hurt. Took them a while to get back up to speed and dialed in.

Webb also was lucky that while he bounced around off track all kinds of out of control, and made a pass during this out of control episode he wasnt docked let alone crash.

I will say his starts are unreal and hes consistent. And he certainly can road block his ass off.

I think Coop has a similar competitive fire that RC had. If he gets rolling I think he could be very tough to beat.
