Took three examples (Coty Schock, Josh Varize, and Brandon Hartranft) to see who made the most and what they would've made on each OEM's bike based on posted contingency...

Any surprises?

Pretty cool to see, Kawi dominated. Yamaha not too great.

Makes a lot more sense why you see so many Kawi in the LCQ....

Back in the day Suzuki used to be like that with a great contingency program and the gate had a ton of yellow

This was pretty cool to read - will 2022 Contingency amounts come out soon?
Will be interesting to see how contingency affects choice of bike for privateers in 2022.

i think what is fascinating is, Team Green has never waivered in their support program. 80's 90's 00's and current they continue to support guys who buy their equipment. Even something as simple as repairs at races, I remember talking to them one year, as long as i had the parts they would do the labor.

Great research ML512, thanks. Geeesh, $9,000 difference if Cody Schock were racing a KX instead of a CR.

I think paying Novice Class riders contigency is stupid and leads to "Cherry Picking" at most local races. The "Goal" used to be to turn Expert as fast as possible to actually earn money.

I think another thing left out is, that most of the guys riding Green probably have the team green program, so if they are actually buying bikes (not just a loaner from a dealer), they get 1500$ added to their contingency card regardless of purchase price from dealer just for buying...

I really enjoy numbers and data like this.

How many of the OEM's give bonus or double contingency to support teams? Is this pretty common or a rarity?

And then you go to the local races and the a class does not have enough riders in the class to collect any contingency….. alll a game to stay in a lower class as it’s always been.

I think it's becoming more common. From my experience, yes, we had a deal in place per our team contract. But at that point it's not really contingency, it's a bonus program the team is contracted to receive. But, it's kinda based off of posted contingency numbers with modifiers in place.

This is pretty fucking pathetic when you think about it. IF you kill it all summer you could possibly afford the 2 bikes you need to practice and race on.

I dunno man up in New England our expert classes are fucking gnarly lol. There’s been more than one occasion where they had a second row of guys coming behind a 40 man gate
