So looking to grab anothere 125 for some fun. Basically race the local 125 class.
Found a fairly mint 02 Husky CR125 for 2k. Always loved the look of thses bikes and i know they can be made to go pretty well.Travis Preston, Steve Lamson and Alessio Chiodi proved that. So my question is what were people doing to make these things run and handle well? Any problems that i should know of? Any and all info would be appreciated.

For 2K I think you could get a newer and better bike.

You can bore the cylinder to 165. I had a 2010 that ripped as a 144, put down 41.8hp and 21ft/lb torque with just porting, head work and a Scalvini pipe on race gas. The 165 was even better, set up similar but with a modified HGS KTM 200SX pipe. It ran like a weak 250 but handled incredible, it could pull all but the tightest of turns in 3rd with the right gearing. If you go this route do your research on cafehusky.com there are a lot of guys there who went the 165 route but most of them are woods guys.

A 2002 is pretty much the same as a 2008 also, just some minor changes over the years. 2009 got a new frame and a new cylinder with a different powervalve. The older cylinder was actually better for the big bores.

Contact wallybean at cafehusky for your big bore needs, he did both of mine and he does great work for a very low price.
