I just found out that any of the good seats, meaning the mez/middle levels of the GA Dome are already sold out (Last year at this time, I still had plenty of choices and again was limited to waiting until my tax refund came in to purchase seats.) I had heart surgery in December and still am in a recovery mode to some degree and cant really see myself walking up the ramp levels all the way to the nosebleed sections of the Georgia Dome.

I am trying to find out if anyone knows if I just take my family over to the pit party, would I be allowed in without a race ticket as long as I have a pit pass? I figure if nothing else, I can take them there and get the "experience" of the pit party and then come back home and watch the race from the comfort of my living room. Theres really not a lot of seats left period..even on the upper levels so I know I wont have time to decide at the last minute to go to the race if we are there at the pit party to begin with...so if anyone knows rather quickly if I can get the family into the pits without a race ticket, that would give me a little time to figure out what to do.

The pits and race are in different buildings and in over 10 years I've never been asked to see a ticket when entering the pits. They just asked for my pit pass. Only when I enter the GA Dome do they want to see a ticket.

I have never been asked for a ticket. Take a empty monster can turn it in and they will give you a stamp. No ticket will be necessary

Durhamtown usually sponsors SX in ATL. I bet they have some decent tickets for sale. Not positive cause I'm not up there anymore, but it's worth a shot. 706 486 4864- ask for Lauren.

They probably have some good seats left as they sponsor the event
Get a wheelchair and you will have great seats with easy access

Stubhub has tickets available. We just bought one in the club section since we had a late entry to our trip.

Try your local Yamaha dealer. They are selling tickets.

Suzuki Yamaha of Dalton still has plenty of good tickets for sale... they buy several sections each year. And yes, let them know you need help getting around and they will provide, they are "Handicap" friendly there.

I really appreciate all of the ideas and recommendations for the race this year. I went ahead and bought tickets today so unless something weird happens we will be at the race and even though its nosebleed section I just figure we'll take a little slower than normal. I guess the one thing I wish was different was the access to the pit party. Two years ago we walked an endless mile it seemed to get to the pit area and I remember back in 2005, it was just a walk down the hallway for about 200 yards.

Oh well...thanks again everyone. We'll be okay.

ATL's set-up is pretty funny. If you have VIP or all access passes you can literally walk down one straight hallway to get to the stadium from the pits. If you don't, you have to walk around the world and up and down 200 flights of stairs to go from the pits to the dome. I'd park for the pits and walk over to the dome. It's easier to get out that way too.
