Come on Honda release the Kracken (or 450 R)

11/20/2016 9:16pm
I'be been patient, but am starting to get concerned that we will hear about the 2017 450sxf factory edition before the crf450r hits the showroom. Then I will have to start re analyzing which bike to get.

Come on Honda save me from more stress and take my money!

I'm surprised we still haven't seen much of the RX at this point.

Got my uncle's down payment back yesterday and the shop said they've been pushed back again. They don't expect them until beginning of December

Often the hold up is customs and the shipping ports processing the cargo....especially as I believe they are in the country....then they have to be transported to dealerships. Some dealers may get theirs later than others depending on where they are (obviously).

RX's are due January I believe.

Look at the list of KTM recalls over the past few model years if you need help waiting for the Honda. I plan to get a new CRF but I'm in no hurry. My '05 is still a good bike and it's all set up for me. Plus old man winter showed up this weekend.

That's because KTM is a great company and recalls their stuff, where as Honda tells you to go fuck yourself.

The only major thing with Hondas was waaaay back when they had valve issues. Feel free to tell us what major Honda (CRF) issues there have been that should of required a recall.

It tells me one thing quite clearly, build quality (and perhaps design and/or manufacturing of components) is suspect. Yes its good they do the recalls but that should not be happening anyway....

Yamahas have had cracking frames, Hondas have had flameout stalling issues, KTM had front wheels built incorrectly. Having the balls/integrity to issue an official recall tells you that "clearly" they have build quality issues above others?

Irony on the wheels and this conversation...My buddy had a brand new crf450 a few years ago and the stock wheels were mangled in a few rides, the front looked square.

Saw a 450 CRFX MAG bike being raced yesterday until a front flat and it was leading a GP at the time of the flat and kicking ass.

They've had more recalls because they have more problems. No mention from you about people waiting over 6 months for transmission parts from KTM to fix their brand new bike. We can all put a spin on it that suits our point of view. I know I wouldn't be excited if I spent $9000 on a bike that sat in my garage waiting for parts that aren't available. Sounds like your buddy needs to check his spokes. No record of Honda wheels exploding from the get-go. I'm not a Honda guy either. BTW, the wheels weren't built incorrectly on the KTM. They used too thin of spokes trying to save weight.

How did Tommy Boy put it? " I can shit in a nice box marked guaranteed but all you got is a guaranteed piece of shit" or something close to that. It is great that KTM will stand behind their product and issue recalls, though.

well I didnt say KTM have build quality issues above others...but I guess you could easily think that. You could argue the cracked frame problems with Yamaha is a serious issue but not sure if they are common enough to warrant a recall.

I dont think CRF450 flameout issues are recall material or build quality problems, simply fixed with higher idle and/or better mapping ...not that I currently race a CRF anyway

2010 crf250 crank. They were going out with less than 10 hours on some bikes.... (they updated it)
2010 crf250 fuel filter (also updated it)

In both these cases they just say, Buy the new updated one.

Ktm might of recalled it.

I've only heard of one person waiting months for trans parts and he is vocal about not digging KTM/Husky bikes. I'm not a spokes person for KTM or Honda or a fanboy for either (I happen to own a Honda and a KTM at the moment though). It's just funny how word of mouth/forum changes or gets exaggerated. So the person who spent 9k on the KTM and had problems is the bikes fault and the person who bought the Honda and had problems has to learn how to work on the bike?

Personally, I think a front wheel exploding spokes is up there with crappiest thing you could have happen with a new bike but when others have had crank issues, frame issues, etc, is the KTM really having more problems? I think the newest recall was some Huskies with a brake issue that was easily fixed before most people took the bike home. Some bikes just come with shitty brakes and people upgrades them or buy a big rotor to bandaid the issue.

Either way, this is turning into what I hate, defending some other brand the original post isn't even about. I actually clicked on here to see if there was any neat/new info on the Honda no one has gotten yet, so I won't drag this on.

Latest report out of Japan. All the Honda's were in shipping containers and were washed out to sea from the sunami. Could be until 2018 before new Honda's reach the U S.

Post a reply to: Come on Honda release the Kracken (or 450 R)
