Hey just thought this might be a good one for discussion as a spin off from US MX bike thread. Maybe this would fly, maybe not, but what I think the industry needs, and Sean at Cobra is the one that could do it.......is a modern version of Hodaka Super Rat!!

We need to get entry levels up and growing and that's how it all started. Was a time when you bought the CR, TM (Suz), YZ (pre-mono) from cutting grass and pop bottle money..........rode alot, got hooked, started racing and made Uncle Donnie rich and famous.

Seriously Sean you think it possible to maybe make something that performs decent in a 125-144 version that could sell for 4K or so??

Then maybe all the other stuff comes along.....stock, mods, then when capabilities kick in kids, mom, dad takes the step up?? Need to start riding before racing and the problem I see now is it's all or nothing and the only low cost way in is used and probably beat up and no one is too enthused about buying a used up worn out race bike????

What ya'll think??? oh and something I know first hand on TM (italy) front is those guys fund a LARGE portion of the biz off their 2T motor sales to karting.........which around the rest of the world is HUGE feeder industry to auto racing in Euro land.

Great idea. An affordable 125 or 144cc two stroke MX bike is what the sport needs. It would have have to be competitive with a new YZ125 and KTM150sx, which I have no doubt Cobra could handle. Not just racers would buy it, a lot of people like me would be interested. You know, the 30something/ 40 something dads that want to chase their kids around the practice tracks for fun.
