I'm no doctor, but that looks like a bad femur break - way up high near the hip and with that floater piece in there too. Such a cruel sport. I hope Clout has a smooth recovery.

Yeah, Been there done that.
I will be surprised if he is ready for the nationals. Took me almost a year to get back in shape to race again after mine.
I'm sure the operations are much better than back in the 70's. I still carry my plate on my femur.
