Source on the grip tape for side panels? What about the soft material for frames?

X2 on skate shop for clear (or any color)

For the grey "soft" tape, I bought a sheet of it from D'Cor and made my frame spar stencils, so I can have fresh ones every few rides

I tried some out and it lasted 2 hours and left behind a bunch of sticky crap. Not for me.

I've been cutting grip tape for frames and number plates for a couple years now and have all of my templates down pretty good a lot of people I've worked with are running it get a hold of me and I can get you hooked up with some tape already pre cut and will probably fit better then your graphics

I have a roll from a skate shop pretty cheap and made my own pattern for my frame from masking tape and transferred to heavy card stock. It last about 4 rides and I peel off, clean with contact cleaner, and throw a new set on it takes like 10 minutes!

Thanks guys, I assumed that some people were using something not quite as abrasive as grip tape. Something more rubberized and thicker? Anyone making something similar to the type for sportbikev tanks?

I get clear skateboard grip off Amazon. Just rub 2 pieces together to take it down to the grip level you want. I have found that if you put it on there as it comes for skating, its too abrasive. I try to make it 50% as rough. Works great for me.

Amazon. Prime. Skateshop is a middle man (mark-up). I buy it in large rolls in black and clear. I make a template, and a trace out 5-6 pieces. Those guys are right, it doesn't last long at all.

What you do is figure out where you want it when you are applying your graphics. Use the brown paper you peel off the back of your graphic as your template. make a stack of them and when they rub through (they will), just apply heat, peel off, apply new one.

You don't have to use skateboard grip tape. When I print graphics, some guys prefer a grip overlam in certain places. I've been using Substance Vinyl and Overlam for awhile now (4 years or so) and riders enjoy the grip overlam. It doesn't tear up your pants and does provide grip that lasts.

It's the UltraGrip 2000 (20 mil overlam)

Datdude22 I’ve been looking for someone to print graphics and found your post. I used to buy graphics from Ride PG. they are out of business and I’m looking for someone that can print graphics with ultragrip 2000. Can you message me your contact info.
Thanks

It's always the gripper material in the side plate that covers the pipe that comes off.... I used 3 layers of the fiberglass aluminum insulatation in the inside of the pipe and it did nothing to protect the graphics or grip tape

If you're looking for grip why not take a look at what Stomp Grip have to offer. Obviously more expensive than grip tape but it works great from what I've read about it.

My graphics from Ride PG have about 100hrs on them. The left schroud has a small spot that my CTI brace wore through. My CTI knee brace is murder on pants shrouds and seat covers. I have the upper body of a stick fiqure so I squeeze the bike a lot with my knees.

I have heard of guys having problems with even the plastics getting to hot on the new KTM and Husqvarna bikes. So far I have 28 hrs on my 2018 250XCF and they seam fine. I do have a FMF muffler. Wonder if the stock muffler is creating more back pressure and heating up the plastics more? The clearance between my plastics and pipe is only about 1/4”.

I know it’s an old post but wanted to say thanks.  I did exactly that. Made some templates and cut out of the $9 amazon clear grip tape. It’s way too abrasive but a quick hit with 40 grit sandpaper seemed to do the trick. Once I get new graphics I’ll just replace every 8-10 hours or so.

I can get 3x sets out of the amazon material  vs the $20 + shipping for the Moto specific brands. No brainer  there.717A1239-8C7E-423A-AEBC-10365E101C58
