You aren’t kidding...one of my worst life decisions ever was trading in my 96 on that POS 97...

The year Henry broke his back at Budds, I hung around the pits a lot.

Those factory Hondas McGrath and Doug were on,
I dunno, were for some reason the baddest bikes I've ever been around.

The blue and green Yamahas and Kawasakis were cool as all get out also, dont get me wrong.

But those factory Hondas, they had a kind of aura about them.

They just lit up on the track. It was like they wanted to jump out from under Jeremy and Henry when they grabbed a handful.
They even sounded different.
They didn't kinda zing like all the other bikes.
The sound they made, it was almost, I dunno, like a bark.

Like I mentioned, those factory Hondas, were 2 of the baddest bikes I've ever been around.

As I recall, Jeremy was on a ‘93 frame through ‘96. What was the difference?

I think the head angle. I believe the 93 was the sharpest turning of the bunch. My first dirt bike was a 1993 CR 250 bought used in 2000, loved that bike.

In 1995-1996 Honda tried to get rid of some of the nasty headshake the '93 had and mellowed out the geometry a bit. The bike was a tiny bit more stable but did not turn as well. Jeremy preferred the older chassis because it turned much better.

Mc hurt his ankle at Millville.
Yeah, I remember that after I shot the intro but I did not feel like redoing it. I will say that MC really threw away the title at Washougal though when he had a crash, got frustrated and packed it in. Even he admits now that was the mistake that really cost him the title. If he guts it out and gets a tenth instead of a DNF he wins the title. Oh well.

I guess for a guy like MC he would rather have it turn on a dime, but for me, I preferred to have a bit less headshake. My buddy had a 1994 and I had the 1996 CR and I thought the 1996 handled better for me.

In the mid 90's I raced a 93 CR2 & a good friend (RIP) raced a 96 model. Two of the top 10 bikes ridden or owned to date in 4 decades of riding. I preferred the 93 because of the better turning capability of the chassis. Excellent bikes !
