Gambling and the lottery.....is a tax! In fact it’s the best way to tax the poor and the stupid, that’s why they allow it! They just willingly throw their money in that tax hole but cry if they lose $20 in taxes.

Call me poor and stupid, I'm happy to lose money playing scratch offs and gambling. Most things fun cost money, the key is to not gamble on money you NEED. That's a sure fire way to lose more than just the money in your pocket.

I try to pick up a powerball ticket once a week. Either I’ll win and it’ll be worth it, or I’ll die and it won’t matter.

I rest my case! I love to see people having fun scratching the silver off a $5 scratch off, they look so happy and content!

So your one of the guys that makes me hating to go in a gas station in Ga ( I live on the GA/AL state line)? Trying to buy the damn 49 different scratch offs and cant decide forever. Cant even buy a damn drink or pay for gas without all you fuckers clogging up the damn checkout line. ( not meant as a personal attack just venting a little, lol)

I waste $5 a week on scratch offs.It doesn't affect my life at all. If I can get that 1 in a billion big winner I'm on easy street. There's a casino 20 minutes from my house. Never spent a penny there.

Haha no, I buy a ticket maybe once a month. If it's a loser I move on, a winner I'll take the winnings to buy another. Also I scratch em off outside while pumping my gas

Land of the free, ought to be free to do what we want right? I dont understand how we can beat our chests about freedom but I cant smoke a joint, put a bet on the giants, and hire a couple prostitutes to celebrate the giants big upset.

We all have that friend that buys 4 $5 scratchoffs and gets all excited saying he “won $5.” No dude, you just lost $15. He immediately goes inside to redeem the ticket and uses the $5 winnings to buy another ticket, effectively losing the full $20.

Can't argue that

Lottery is a tax on the poor.

Ohio lottery goes towards primary education! YET....everytime I show up in the voting booths the school districts are asking for more money. Levy. After levy. After levy. When will the tax madness stop? I was paying 3100 in property tax when I bought my house 7 years ago. I’m paying 4200 now. 1/3 increase in taxes! It’s ridiculous. And the lottery is supposed to help....?

You also can’t drive 200 miles an hour through a school zone, ride a motorbike on the road without a helmet and piss your name in the sand on a public beach.... land of the free has limitations for the greater good, some you probably agree with like the limitations I stated above, and some you don’t agree with as the ones you stated. But either way you accept some restrictions for the greater good so I think it should come from this angle... and if studies show that the negatives far outweigh the positives then you should also accept that limitation as you do readily do others...

If you cant tell the difference between actions that effect others, and actions that only effect yourself then I cant help you.
If you wanna be told how to live your life, move to China, or Russia. I heard everyone there is super happy. Much winning

It is because you may not be the most representative of what real gamblers are. You play for fun as a hobby, like if we we were playing a poker between friends to have a nice evening also with a few beers, while many many people are addicted and play food money thinking they will earn the big prize this time. I agreed with kkawboy because my former sister in law had a shop selling cigarettes and lotterry stuffs, and she told me exactly that and was kinda sad about it.
