I do not wear either, and dont plan on it.

Any reasoning behind this?
I do not like either one, I have tried to wear a neck brace briefly, and many chest protectors.

The chest pro's bug me cause I had surgery on my collarbone twice and had a big plate and screws in it with a big nasty scra so the shoulder pads rub on it, annoying the hell out of me.

And neck brace subject I just cant get comfy with one, and I am sure they might help in certain cases, but I personally know some poeple that have still got paralyzed or broke there neck wearing one, so its kind of like knee braces in my opinion, you can and probably still will get hurt but might be less,, its just hard to say.

They need to figure out a way to like crash test dummy neck braces and chest pro's then we would all know for sure.

A rigid brace creates an alternative load path between the head and upper torso. A soft doughnut can't do that.

I always ride with only the neck brace. But, there are a few tracks that are super fast and really long straights that i'll throw on a chest protector just to save on the bruising lol. Other than that I hate wearing them.

I remember the year you filled in for TP199. The crash you had at Kenworthy's was nasty. I had a front row view of it. I thought you were wearing a chest pro that day, but maybe you weren't.

Btw, did you choose 99 that year?

There's no need to choose between the neck brace and chest pro. I wear both. I use the HRP Flak-Jak LT-IMS. LT mans it's designed to work with the Leatt and IMS means it's the model with the air cushion padding. They also have just a regular Flak-jak LT without the air padding.

Here's mine. http://www.hrpsports.com/...tID/109/Default.aspx

Also notice it comes in 5 sizes.

I also have an MSR protector like CamP's that I modified and it works just as well. Instead of using custom straps like Cam did I cut down the shoulder cups with a jigsaw. IF anyone wants to see a pic of it send me a PM with your email address.

Both made by alpinestars to work with their Bionic Neck Support (BNS):
A-8 PROTECTION VEST FOR BNS

A-8 LIGHT PROTECTION VEST FOR BNS

Both have removable upper chest and back padded panels accommodate fitment of Alpinestars BNS

I wear a Leatt with a Leatt chest protector. I figured they were designed to work together and I think they do. It can be a bit awkward to get them on but they fit together nicely and I really don't notice either of them.

I wear a neck brace every time I throw a leg over a bike although I've thought about stopping. I only wear a chest protector if the track has hard roost and I'm going to be close to other bikes.

I have an Astar brace and can't find a damn chest protector to fit comfortably with it but hate not wearing a chest protector. So for now it's either ride with just the brace or just the chest protector.
Goto a wrecker, cut some old seat belt from a vehicle.

Get some good rivets and a sharp blade and extend the back side straps of your shoulder cups by an inch.

I did this with my TLD brace and it works great.

Either that or buy one of the Astars or many brands of chest protectors that are designed to go hand in hand.
