Definitely wheeled my bike into the hotel room many a times. You'd have to be stupid rich or just stupid to leave it in the back of your pickup overnight.
One time I was traveling for work and found a 1972 Honda CT70H for stupid cheap on the local Craigslist. I had my truck with me, so I went and bought it. There was no way in hell I was leaving it in the bed of the truck over night. The way the hotel lobby was configured, I was able to push the bike right through the front door into the lobby and walk right past the front desk and the people working there never even saw the bike because it was shorter than the front desk counter top. Just walked straight by, turned and smiled, and straight into the elevator with it
Positively, absolutely 110% obsessed with anything MOTO.

Pre van we used to wheel our bikes in every hotel, it was mandatory to find them with outside facing first level doors!
I once drove a LOOONG way to buy a bike. I stopped at a non-chain motel to see if they had a first floor room. He said they did not, but had rooms on the second floor. The guy could see the look on my face. I told him I needed a first floor room because I had just bought a new motorcycle and was afraid to leave it in the truck overnight. The guy then said, "It will fit in the elevator". Room SOLD! :-) The next morning, I loaded into the elevator and a customer comes around the corner to get on the elevator. He sees the bike and says, "I'll take the stairs." :-)

I don't have to be as smart as you hope to be some day anymore.
