It's a little confusing but he is writing as if he is in 2029 looking back at 2019. He's predicting there will be a chase format in 10 years.

His stuff is difficult for me to read. My attention wanders after the first couple sentences.

Don't tell them that they want to follow nascar and drive another sport into the dumps.

Chase was no good, don't bring it to SX.

What happens when you destroy the history of the sport for new viewers is you gain a few viewers but you lose all the old ones. The old ones don’t bring their kids to the races because they are pissed off. The sport loses attendance. How many sports, movies, TV shows etc. have to do this for people to learn.

Just say NO to any chase nonsense.

Cooksey is a moron, seriously don’t listen to anything he says! FYI, some people in high places really want a chase format, but that article was intended to be funny and not necessarily predict the future.

If the powers that be want to make each race more relevant condense the series to 12 rounds. Don't dilute it to where the riders are managing the series as opposed to winning the race. 17 rounds is too much. 12 sx and 12 mx with time off between.

It’s an absolutely idiotic idea, I can’t for the life of me understand why the supposed “core” or “higher” ups of the sport want to make all these stupid changes in order to try and attract new viewers aren’t even going to make an impact on the sport.
If these dramatic changes that people are speaking of happen watch the “old viewers” start to disappear and the views and attendance drop. But I guess they’ll classify it as a success because they’ll have new viewers lol.

I don't understand the motivation for this idea. Is it for the casual fan? My opinion is that the "casual" fan, by definition, isn't following enough to care much about the point race so is only there for good racing. Tomac had the title locked up and still the final round was some good, close, competitive racing. AC was close but still went hard that first moto.

Would the chase format appeal to the more hardcore fan? For me, absolutely not. Whenever it gets brought up most of the opinions seem to be against...so what's the drive here?

Granted, this year's final round is a single example of good racing despite the lack of a tight points race, but I can't think of a single time over the many years that I've thought a chase format would be better than what exists.
