There's a small charity race going on in Japan this weekend. I went out this morning, to check out the practice. Here are some not so good pictures I took.
It rained yesterday. Today, Saturday practice in cold cludy weather. Main is tomorrowy, but it will raing beforehand again.
RedBull is here, even in Japan. I was told there will be RedBull girls tomorrow.
Akira Narita was here, on YZ80. Checking a sag. He's on Yamaha supported Team NRT.
No, this is not what he's racing. He's racing a stock 2010 450. but he told me he'll race YZ80 tomorrow in support race, for fun.
Yamaha pit wasn't too exciting, but Honda supported Dream Honda team.had some cool stuff to see. I don't think this is anything new since I have seen them testing in public at local mx track.
Not sure if Mugen really is coming back MX, but a teck kind of hinted #3 has more Mugen parts than just a pipe.
Header looks interesting.
Left side.
out of focus... this is the other #3 bike with Dream Honda graphics on.
might be a special DID rim, it says "StrongDID" in white. Trick Zeta carbonfiber disk and brake gard.
94db Mugen muffler.
Shock looked trick, but couldn't take a closeup.
#3 rider Masuda wasn't here today, but mecanic was still working, changing tires for some reason.
A guy with CR125 was in the same tent. He works for Honda, and a member of company's amature race team.
Narita going out for a muddy practice.
my 125 guy is going out too. check out Sumo guy on left. He was actually selling something called "Sumo strup".
Practice started. Nice placement of dozar, isn't it? Here, safety isn't as stressed as in America.
Narita, 2009 National Champion, again.
Narita airling it out in mud.
So dark. I don't know how to take pictures when it's this dark.... It started rain before noon. It will be a muddy mess at tomorrow's main.
A few guys racing KTM.
Kawasaki. Bong Style? no, Kong Style Kawasaki. I still don't know what that mean.
my 125 hero is having tough time in 450 ruts.
Japanese mechnics at work. One of mechanic's board says "Try to Look Cool!" or something like that.
my 125 hero is stuck again.
some vintage bike to show tomorrow. It is owned by one of ex-Kawasaki factory rider, Kamikaze Ida.
Practice over. Narita having a short discussion with his team.
#5 Kawasaki. I believe a rider is a factory rider, but not sure if this bike is. Looks pretty much aftermarket.
my 125 hero is back in pit too.
Team Suzuki, 250Fs.
Bike wash. As you can see, this event isn't too organized....
Japanese private rider's dream, tricked out Toyota HiAce. maybe not.
Nissan p/u. it's tiny old Datsun 210 pickup from 60's and they sold it till recent years.
That's about it. Thanks for looking!

Unfortunatly, I'm not going to the race tomorrow. Promised my wife to take my baby girl out to park.
The Shop
Thanks for todays Pics, shame about tomorrow.
About 5 years ago transworld posted pics of a 4 generation CR250 that was due to hit production but this was right about the time Honda went all 4 stroke on us. Does anyone have that pic? It was a very cool looking bike ...and since they are usually 3-4 years ahead of production im sure they still have pre pro CR 2 strokes that were being designed and tested at the time before the 4 stroke took over and the future 2 strokes got shelved..... Ill bet there is some cool stuff we never got to see with Honda's 2 stroke line for that I am sad...
I know which bike you are talking about, but don't have any picture. I just read on TW as well.
I haven't been to any races in Japan since..... 1988. 1998 Tokyo SX was my last one. Loved to go SX, National, and SCORE races when I lived in CA, but lost interest somehow. It was cool to see trick bike today though, I might go to next All Japan race when it comes in town.
That CR125 looked pretty much stock. It was really clean, but just had a ProCircuit pipe on it. YZ80 looked like a beater, so I didn't even pay attention.
Pit Row
Thanks for sharing the pictures. That Mugen header is a work of art!
ohh, thanks for the pics btw..
I'm interested in why they welded cones rather than just bending the pipe. The new mandrill benders don't cause very much pipe distortion.
Your daughter is beautiful my the way TokioMX!
especially the exhaust pipe, and you taking your daughter to the park instead of going riding that shows your a good dad . maybe in a few yrs you can get a her a crf50 then you can go riding with her and both of you can have fun with it.
Post a reply to: Charity Race in Japan. Check out real Mugen 2010 CRF450 stuff.
