Changing KTM from orange to red and black. Need ideas.

Hello, I've ridden my 2t KTM wifh stock orange plastics without any graphics, but I always wanted a honda 2t. Since I've got no options for honda 2t my only bet is to get black or red plastics and use graphics. But currently can't decide if I should do black plastics and red dominated graphics or red plastics with darker graphics. So I'm looking for ideas. Or maybe someone has even crazier KTM builds, will accept those aswell, just sick of the orange/white thing. Thank you in advance.

I took my 2019 KTM 150 and a buddy of mine helped make a custom bracket to accept Japanese style front fenders.

Went the 2001 Pro Circuit vibe this time.... but thinking about a Plano/Shark theme next, with a Honda fender.

GO to Decal Works website and you can mock up plastic/graphics. Works really well and will at least give you an approximate idea of how it will look.

Go mostly red with black as the secondary colour, not the other way around.

I'm in the process of changing mine up to red, white and a little black. I suggest going with white plastic and graphics majority red. Liquid Skinz graphics did mine as pictured below. I'm having them change the white vinyl to red to make most of the bike red, the number background will remain white and the numbers red. The black and gray accents will be red and white or red and black. I'll have very thin black pinstriping outlining the transitions from the red to white and maybe around the numbers. I'm not sure what color I'll have them make the KTM logo.

Liquid Skinz uses a "new" vinyl that they say and I agree is superior to other graphic companies. Read up about what they use. They also offer VERY attractive pricing. I was going to go with red plastic but the only company that makes it is Race Tech, RTech and their USA distributer is MXRevival. It's pricy at $229 shipped so I'm opting to go with a full white Acerbis for $160. Most of the plastic is covered with vinyl so I'll have a basically red bike. I'll also go with the Acerbis red/black frame guards.

I don't like the years KTM offers orange frames as it makes it difficult to customize to anything other than orange.

I think you can switch to gasgas plastic if you use the gasgas fuel tank.

I didn't realize that.... Personally, the cost of a fuel tank (+$300) just for a cosmetic change is a no go. I'd go with the RTech red plastic before spending the cash on a new tank.

I buy KTM for the far superior engineering and quality of components. My last six 450's all had +200 hours on the top ends and clutches when sold them to get a new one and were running great. My current 2019 has 230 hours and is going strong. Also, the money they spend on forged components and steel frame seals the deal for me. I've never gotten over 50 hours on a Jap top end. I'm 61 and have owned all brands and none have been built to the level of a KTM. At my age, it doesn't matter what color I ride as far as speed so I go for quality/longevity and retained value.

And buy 250 2t? If that was that easy.. If they made the new hondas with 250 2t engines I would buy it in an instant, new hondas make my pp hard.

Honestly, I hate orange, just love the way ktm feels in the corners and jumps, oh and the 2t motor.

I have the red plastics made by Rtech (they are more orange than red though) and put full graphics on it with the Honda red color. Works really well!

people who buy ktms and make them white or red should stop buying all the ktms so the rest of us can have some. plus they look terrible when converted.

I just got the first proof of my Liquid Skinz red/black/white graphics. Same layout as in my Avatar except for the color changes. I'm making a couple changes including changing the number, front plate text and shroud KTM text to black. Too much red in the current proof. I'm going to run Acerbis GasGas red front and rear fenders and the rest of the plastic white. Last thing will be the red/black Acerbis frame guards.
