Forgot about Bell. Hannah is famous for talking about what an underpowered, overweight turd that ‘81 YZ250 was.

Sorry DV, Bell won championship in 80. Barnett won in 81. Not sure if the 80 bike was a turd or not?

2015 Tim Gajser on a crf 250. No idea what the bike was like....

2009 Marvin Musquin winning on a Crf250 till Ktm snatched him. No idea what the 2009 crf250 was like powerwise but red bull ktm is the team to be on.

Not much to add other than RJ and Glover winning titles on production-based Yamahas in the 1983-85 era, against full-on works bikes, especially the HRC bikes. I don't think either guy really gets the kudos deserved for winning on those bikes.

Yea x2 on that . That frame was nothing like standard, they had a single down tube and spilt radiators. Instead of just one big one like stock

Yeah, there are those that think Henry would not have won if not on that bike. I’m not one of them but that was the start of what we see now. Plus wasn’t it really a 426ish the whole time?
Think it was a 426 plus first year was full factory bike , the year after it weighed a hell of alot more and was nt as good of bike. Yea i agree doug was due a championship. He was a great rider and would of won more championship s bar the budd s creek crash imo .

Indeed I think his 1996 bike was worse then his 1997 bike. Because Honda was less involved in 1996, officially he raced for Honda UK that year if I'm not mistaken.

2 riders on two bikes you claim to know nothing about?
The -09 was a rocketship compared to the STOCK -15 250, but no way in hell did tiga race that bike in any stock manner

If I'm not mistaken, the quote was (referring to Howerton)

"I beat him, fair-and-square, on a tub of shit 30lbs heavier than he was riding. ..."

Lol, damn that guy was awesome!!!

At least Broc had works bikes in 81 and 83 (power valve, more trick suspension on the 83 than the production 84 and 85 bikes). The 85 production 490 vs the trickest open class RC? If you ever rode a YZ490 (and my experience is limited to 2 laps when I was 16), you realize that 'knife to a gunfight' doesn't begin to cover it.

I think Bob Oliver said they made 65 rwhp at the start of a race and 30 at the end?

Febvre won in 15 and was a title threat in 16 before the start of his never ending injuries. Barcia won two races in the nationals that year and crashed out of another potential win at Washogual. Webb jumped on that bike and was damn good right away. Then the bike won all three races at the MxDN. Maybe in SX the bike had issues but in MX no way.

Trampas Parker on a KTM back in 90s. Did Healey ever win anything on the Cagiva?

Don't think it won any other titles though right? Just that MXGP title and a couple Aussie MX titles. Maybe a Canadian one?
