Seriously though that has to be one of if not my favorite bike of all time. Can't wait to see him re-live the glory days on that beast.
I concur......

Daytona 2004 with Rookie in the background. It was my first race shooting with a DSLR camera I picked up a few days before I left for Florida,it was a steep learning curve.

Did he throw his practice bike in the truck to make Rookie work on it?

That, right there, is what a dirtbike should look like. Ricky's RM is right up there in the running as well. No stupid claw plastered all over the damn thing, just a clean, smooth design that looks good right up to today's standards. I love how it looks like you can go to the showroom and pick one up just like it, the trick parts and touches are very subtle.

Well if you're gonna throw the Bridgestone stickers and/or tire letters into it, I think he should start with some Bridgestone tires! If you look at his Instagram post (first post/ photo in the thread) you can see that those are undoubtedly Dunlop MX3S tires on his bike haha! Come on Chad, you knew someone was gonna catch you on that sooner or later!! hahaha!!

And he does have the Bridgestone stickers on the rear fender, just missing the fork guards and tire letters to help finish the look!

I agree but at the time the sport was really healthy and in its prime. The manufacturers weren't afraid to spend money and they didn't have to rely on outside sponsors to go racing.

I'd be curious to know the teams budget back then and the budgets of today.

I think the cleanest look today has to be the MCR Honda team. Sure SmarTop is Genova's company but not seeing Monster, Rockstar, Red Bull, etc. on their bikes makes for a really clean look.

Wonder why they used a mikuni
The mikuni carb design breaths better which equates to more power in the mid-top. I did some back to back comparisons vs. a Keihin PWK about 12 yrs. back on a 03 CR2. There was a noticeable power difference with the mikuni tmx in the upper range of the powerband.

Looks like he saw the post where I state it's missing a chain lol.

As for the bikes in the background WGAF. This thread is about one of the most badass bikes ever.

Looks like one of his old Honda factory number plates and a husky.

He can't not ride it though, we need video!

Bike on the left is a KTM. You see a little bit of orange between the YZ's rear fender and side number plate. That and an orange hub.

What’s a bike like that worth?
The saying is if you got to ask.....you can't afford it.

Not sure what Reed's bike is worth but remember seeing that the last CR 125 Steve Lamson raced several years ago at Hangtown that the mill alone was 40k.

Surely he has to take it for a burn. I get it, fresh built, everything "brand new", but what difference would it really make if he took it out, burnt a bunch of laps, made a sick video that would no doubt go viral, then just have his mechanic (or himself) strip it back to a bare chassis, clean every single part and re-build it again like brand new?

I wonder if its the whole "Yamaha" thing and the fact that he's now off the team, as against still being contracted while he was building it?

You can't spend so much time collecting parts and building such a thing of beauty to then just sit and stare at it. Well, you can, but really, you can't.

Carn Chad lets see some laps!

I LOLed well at them. Old Blue Balls might stick. I'd for sure have blue balls if that was sitting in my shed and couldn't ride it

Im betting if hes not riding it - it would be as hes contracted already.
RC4 mentioned him and CR22 on 2 strokes at AusX.
So that could mean the YZ.. or Husky/KTM 2 Stroke..
