Feld is unsure at the moment, but it’s not looking good. There is just too much money to be lost, to not finish the series. How would everyone feel about having multiple rounds in Las Vegas ? Not out of the question, but that would push the outdoors and that could be a logistical nightmare. Time will tell....

It's over...

The epidemiologist, not news feeds, are saying this will go on for months.
Its not a passing storm, there will be multiple rebounds.
The reason to eliminate big groups is to try and interrupt it.

I'm predicting it will be couple of months at a minimum til things settle down, allowing large gatherings wise.

Season is clearly over. Can’t believe people actually think they are gonna try to finish it out. It’s dead.

At least SX has a worthy new champion.

No way I’d support multiple Las Vegas rounds. The hard pack high speed track typically favors a certain riding style. They would really have to do something to separate the tracks each night for the results to be shaken up making it “even”. Either way I feel that the championship is “tainted” at this point. Just one idiots opinion

Deano said in IG it is 100% cancelled
Pretty sure that post was about this weekend being 100% cancelled after an earlier post hinting it was off.

Anyone who thinks everyone is just going to take 2 or 3 months off and pick up right back where they were are kidding themselves. The teams that do outdoors will start prepping for outdoors as best they can hoping this all passes, the SX only teams will close up shop for the year. JGR I would imagine just got their final nail put in.

Too much money lost from supercross?

The world economy is shredding trillions dealing with this, it's hilarious to think that supercross would some how take precedence.

It's done, for many months at least. But it's understandable why lots of folks have a hard time accepting that.

The motocross community is a very insular world.

Everything I hear is working towards trying to get in as many rounds as possible...but we'll definitely be short a few destinations.

JGR can potentially view this as a blessing in disguise. Their SX season has been injury plagued and grim, minus A Mart. They could just focus on MX with their main line up ready to go again.

I read his most recent post as it is all cancelled (I could be misinterpreting). The post before that said Indy specifically was cancelled.

Wishful thinking.

The state and local partners required to stage the event will not be in position to participate.

You will see an additional round or two called off before the season is suspended and ultimately canceled.

Supercross is fortunate in that they were able to stage 10 rounds - other motorsports face the prospect of a lost season.

Vegas is NOT cancelled and contrary to what some think they “know” .... I’d be willing to bet that Vegas will be hosting more than one round. But what do I know. Shit has changed a few times in the last 24 hours.

I thought the reason that Vegas is not the final round is because the stadium is shutting down at the end of April?

I love racing as much as the next guy, but yea this and most other things we do is dead for at least 6 weeks, which means the series is pretty much guaranteed done.

This whole thing is frightening. While the actual illness doesn’t seem as fatal as past problems..... if we’re reacting this way now, I can only imagine it will get worse. There will be no vaccine for at least a year and our only recourse now is quarantine. Are we going to quarantine for a year?

I found this on the Sam Boyd Wikipedia page, not sure why they had to move the final.

The last event at Sam Boyd Stadium is scheduled to be a Monster Energy Supercross race on April 25, 2020. UNLV’s contract with Allegiant Stadium prohibits any events from taking place at the stadium after June 30, 2020, leaving the stadium dormant after that date. The exact future of the stadium remains up in the air, as UNLV officials are considering selling it or demolishing it.

Here's another hurdle any event will have for awhile, liability exposure and insurance.

In our litigious society, I have to think event insurance underwriters are keenly aware that they would be exposed to claims if an event attendee were to get ill and die, or go see grandma a day or to after an event and she dies.

All because the illness came from attending an event and the organizers were careless in holding the event...they should have known...blah, blah, blah...

I'm sure legal has plenty to say about holding events....

The solution is much more frightening than the virus.
