Found an old go-pro from a race there in 2012. Not my greatest start, or finish for that matter SadLaughing But you get an idea of the layout. Not "Exactly" like the original track (especially the dirt) but for picking out an available piece of land and trying to duplicate it, it's pretty close.

That is awesome, thanks! I wondered where that replica track was! For some reason thought it was like Cuhilla Creek or something. Does anyone have anything like this from the original Carlsbad? It's been so long since I raced there (41 years) and I can't remember all of the sections. It also seemed way scarier in real life that watching the video!

Yeah, that dirt is too nice. Other than that, pretty cool. I only raced at the real Carlsbad once, and I don't remember the entire layout. That looks awfully close, though.

...the replica track left out Rattlesnake Gulch.

Other than that the turns were roughly the same, but no one can re -create the fabled"Blue Groove" clay asphalt that was made by over watering in the morning, followed by the hot July sun and the ocean breeze coming in from just over the hill.

I am so lucky I got to grow up at that track, there will never be anything else like it...

My pops built Carlsbad Raceway in 1967 and had his first race there in February 1968. My brother Marc built the Carlsbad Replica track at The Ranch and it may have not been identical but it was damn close and I saw grown men cry after riding it !

I raced Carlsbad a whole lot back when. (Not a fast guy, btw.) Riding the replica at The Ranch was REALLY impressive.
No, it didn't have the same soil but it was amazing how close they got it. It was eerily similar. I was blown
away how similar the sensations were as I rode around the replica track. Marc did an incredible job.

It was developed. What is left of the track lies in the area between all the buildings.

Fun fact: They held a Loretta's qualifier there and the racers/parents actually complained the track was too rough lol!

My pops was running the starting gate and said the same thing. He told them, "this is motocross, it's supposed to be rough. Learn to ride it."

Installing the spectator bridges would really make it cool.

Thanks, at least I feel a little better! I still can’t visualize the entire Carlsbad track, but I can feel the blue groove now!
