Anyone know what's left of the Carlsbad track and can you walk down to that area.....

Also, what industry companys are located in the Carlsbad area?

We have a trip planned in that area in June and was just wondering, thanks...

I've heard that there are bits and pieces of the track left, but the landmarks are getting harder to spot.

No Fear and Spy are both nearby. FMF International (which Marty Moates was running) was also down in the area...as far as I know it still is.

I went there after Marty Moates passing. I just moved here a couple years ago and haven't been to Carlsbad since that fabled day in June 1980 when Marty won both motos. I will never forget that day. The track is located off of Palomar Airport road on Melrose. Here is a shot I took last November looking down at the start straight.

The track is just a shadow, of the past.

I went to a mini race in honor of Marty, we were soon chased out by the authorities.

If you were to enter the race track area, from Melrose, you can make out some of the old raceway. Carlsbad, was one of my favorite tracks to race.

I used to race against Marty, at the SRA GPs held on the famous hardpacked terrain...I was lucky enough to beat him on ocassion. Marty was a great man, and it still haunts me, that he is gone. Gone, but not forgoten.

No Fear is a short distance from Carlsbad raceway, as well as Ceet...I am sure there are others
