I was looking over a list of the riders who had career numbers and realized that as 250 east champion Malcolm Stewart is eligible to pick one.
That thought made me wonder why he didn't. Only thing I could come up with for a reason why he didn't is that he's waiting for the number 7 to become available. Kind of makes sense, keep the number in the family and for Stewart's Seven Gear Company.

Even if the #7 was available, Malcolm is not eligible to select it.

Malcolm was not eligible to pick a career number because outdoor champions get to, not 250 supercross champions. Also he did not finish in the top 10 in all series points combined (450SX, 250SX E/W, 450MX, 250MX)

Not eligible for a career #. Instead of being a dick like the others, I'll simply explain why. 2 ways to get one: A National title (outdoor MX), or you need to be top 10 in total points for the season overall, between SX, MX, 250 SX and 250 MX. All points count, top 10 overall rate a career #. Are you tracking?

Hang on, I thought you needed a 450SX or 250/450MX Title for a single digit number and a 250SX W/E or top ten in points including both 250s and 450s for any double digit number not already taken? Or am I wrong?

7 useless posts in this thread and two guys that were helpful and actually provided relevant information.

Obviously the OP misunderstood how career numbers were awarded. No reason to bash the guy for it.

Winning a regional title means nothing for numbers. You need a national title (250 MX, 450 MX, 450 SX) to get a single digit. To get a career number you need to get into the top 10 in GNC points, but you can only pick an unused number from 10-99. If it wasn't for regional points counting towards GNC points starting in I think 2012, Malcolm would of been reigning East Coast champion with a 3 digit number.

SX championship does not get you a career #, just a #1 in SX following year. Only MX titles get you a permanent single digit or combined top ten will get you a career #, if that # is available.

Wrong !! If a rider wins the 450 SX title he would get to use a single digit for career # if a single digit was available that he wanted just the same as winning a 250 or 450 MX title.

Wrong! He's talking about 250s which is what Malcolm raced. Didn't say anything about 450s.

Because he is talking about the 250 class. Only motorcross in the 250 class can earn you a national number. That, or combined top 10 in points. So, what he said is correct and I completely understood what was said.

Points earned in 250 SX count toward a national number now. I'm not sure about a permanent number, but it does toward a two digit national number. Mookie would not have 47 otherwise.
