Can anyone tell me why Colt Nichols has not established a Career # yet? I’m not 100% sure how the points system works.

He needs to finish inside the top ten of combined overall points at the end of the year or win a national championship to earn a career number.

Thank you. I appreciate it! So, does combined over-all mean Supercross and Outdoors?

Yep, and it's stupid. In my opinion it should go back to only counting the outdoor points for the 250 class.

Regional SX points shouldn't count. No idea why that change was made.

So do you think AC will choose a single number digit or he’ll keep his 92?

Looks like Colt just missed out, if he had not been injured last 2 rounds he might have bumped Hampshire out.

More than likely AC will be #9 for 2020 from what I’ve read and heard.

Yeah, I thought he ended up 7th overall in Outdoors this year and landed a 3rd in 250 West SX for 2019..... I’m confused as all get out!

Because the Geico team owner understands the power of branding.

It’s top 10 combined (includes 450s)

I like the practice of reserving single digit numbers for national champions, 250 or 450, but I think there needs to be a revision on how career numbers are earned.

Almost every number under 30 is now taken. Maybe change the rule so that only the top ten 450 guys can earn a career number or something, I don't know. Something.

I dont mind career numbers. It just makes it easier for everyone. However i believe that single digit numbers should be used by the top 10 450 guys in last years series. Similar to how #1 is run. Not because they won a 250 championship 15 years ago.

If the 250 class is truly a feeder class as we are repeatedly told, then reserving a 'career number' for accomplishments in the junior class makes no sense. Some little bike 'specialists' never make the transition, yet they hold a premium number.

Now, if the 250 class becomes a career class without point restriction------- 🎯

[Edit: huge Nichols fan---my comment is general in nature.]

The current number system diminishes the value of the number on the riders plate. You can have one good year and use number 11 until you retire.
