Josh Cartwright grabbed the holeshot in 450 moto 1 and went 5-7 for 6th overall.

Matt Goerke grabbed his first overall win of the season.

Matt got the O/A in the mud a few weeks back...although that was just a "One Moto" day.
He's still working on getting to "100%" and he's still not satisfied with his results...yet.
That's why you don't see a legit "smile" here:

Last week, Gopher was a total disaster & the progress he's achieved in his 1st week of actual "regular" training and practice since then is pretty damn amazing.

What I love about Canadian racing...

Matt, last week, even as he was totally bummed about his day...still commented that it was kinda nice to see "Alessi Back!". That was pretty damn cool. Matt's had some good races with Mike and truly likes the dude. I don't know if it's alway been that way, tho!
Laughing

I wanna give a shout out to the "Jason Anderson/Marty Smith of Canada": Dylon Wright. He proves that hard work and believing in yourself are what it takes to get it done.

Also, congrats to GDR Honda on having BOTH of those Red Plates!

Thanks for keeping this stuff up and available Mav.
It's appreciated.

Interesting fact, Facciotti is 31, Alessi is 31, Goerke is 33 and Nicoletti is 30.

Based on prior accomplishments Alessi should be smoking these guys every week, I’m surprised he isn’t more dominant up here in this field.

Nice to see him win one!

TeamGreen, I kind of "forgot" Matt's win at McNabb Valley. I guess you could say Sand Del Lee was his first legit overall of the season since they ran 2 motos. Did it at the hottest race of the year too.

Oh, and you'll want to make it to Deschambault. Old man Dowdy is planning on lining up and Keith Johnson as well. Mike Treadwell and Carl Vaillancourt will be there to help out/man friend.

Dowdy might line up at Walton as well.

So the video of Phil pointing at Alessi is on Instagram. He was heated and true to his reputation. I’m sure the next day he would admit that wasn’t a good look.

What did Mike do anyways?

If those penalties stick, the championship is pretty much over since there's 3 rounds left.

So lame. I want to be a fan of Canadian MX, but it's always a shit show. Every year there is some BS penalty it seems like.

Guess they gotta penalize Americans so a Canadian can win I guess.

That is a bad guess. Lots of American riders win up here and we appreciate them. Penalties are handed down without bias.

I can agree that there are some fluke penalties for sure

If I was phill I’d be a little upset too.
The only person Phil should be upset with is Phil. He popped out of his line and into Mike's. 100% racing incident.

Those are pretty stiff penalties for what I saw as a racing incident. What was strange was the 3 or more times Alessi craned his neck right around to look at Nicoletti catching him. He was so focused on Nicoletti and not racing the track. Nicoletti was much faster. The incident is right after 2hr15min in the 2nd race. Right after Nicoletti passed Alessi, Nicoletti lost traction at the rear wheel towards the apex of the corner, while Alessi had good traction and tried to keep in it the whole time. Their lines came together and they wouldn't have hit if Nicoletti didn't lose that speed in the corner and kept ahead of Alessi. Also, Nicoletti was really leaning into Alessi, probably to help absorb the blow and to keep from going down.

As a pro, Nicoletti should have ideally controlled his emotions a little better after the race, but racing at his speed in that crazy heat with the adrenalin flowing, I can understand getting hot under the collar both literally and figuratively. I have been there. I do think they should have went a little easier on the penalties. This will obviously put the Americans way behind in the points in the Canadian championship. Hope they reconsider the overdone penalties.

Alessi has t-boned riders deliberately in the past and I think that kind of riding should be dealt with harshly, but after watching the video in slow motion 5 or 6 times, I have to call this particular one a racing incident.

Wow classy. In front of a child.
This guy needs a suspension for the rest of the series

Looks like from the video of the pass, that Mike had the line on the inside and Phil lost rear traction and the bike squared up into Mike's line.

I agree with this.

There must be more to the story, those penalties are really excessive!
