This... we have replaced piston with an aftermarket one, and used a different seal. Also issues with the condenser on the 16/17 bikes, had 2 buddies have them go down.

I too am actively looking for a new 450. I’m torn between the new KX and the FC. I currently have a TC250 and am really impressed with the bike overall. It’s my first Husqvarna. However I’ve been on Kawasaki’s forever and have a soft spot for them. I’m 6’1 and just came off of a 17 CRF450. I never gelled with that bike. I felt like I was riding a CR80, very cramped.

the FC 450 has an optional OEM seat that gives a taller rider an extra 20mm; but i am sure the KXF has the option to lower the pegs a few MM also.

I am 6'1" and the only changes to the ergos on the FC450 was the tall seat and different grips.

We know the FC450 is a good bike, and it sounds like the KXF450 will be just as good, so i suppose thats a great problem to have! Smile

Get the new KX and don’t look back. I’m 6’3” and love it. I’ve ridden the 18 Honda and thought it was a great bike, but my biggest hesitation is that it felt a little small to me. The new KX has an awesome fork (which isn’t an air fork like the FC). Of course I haven’t ridden the FC, but the air fork alone steered me away. I’ve already been down that road even though I know it’s a good air fork (I’ve ridden the 18 KTM 150 with one).

1. Strip the bike down often and clean. Frame covers build up dirt and take the paint off the frame then it can rust. Remove the seat and tank often and clean and dry underneath.

2. Check electrical connections. The starter switch wire is not water proofed. Fill it with silicone to keep water out or replace it with a waterproof one.

3. 16 batteries are garbage. WPS lithium has been good to us. Has a test button on it.

4. 16 models had bad front spokes.(might only be KTM)

5. check you sprocket bolts.

6. Top ends in 50-60 hours depending on how you ride.

7. Get twisted to map it.

Most importantly....throw the oem header in the trash and get a Yosh or FMF to make working on the bike a lot easier.

I think a lot of people are mistaken on the price differential on KTM's versus Jap bikes. Difference, at least in "fly over country" where I live is minimal at best.

Here's what I paid for 450 KTM's OTD. Note these numbers don't include tax. All other fees included. In Oklahoma you only pay tax if you title the bike. Needless to say I don't title mine. KTM's being much more expensive is an urban legend despite getting superior quality. Tax is a push in this comparison as the differential would be the same as the tax rate is the same.

YEAR OTD MSRP
2017 $8,870 $9,400
2018 $8,800 $9,600
2019 $9,112 $9,900

Also, none of these bikers were bought latr in the model year or as leftovers. All were bought within 1 month of release.

Theres a $1000 difference in msrp. Higher quality is debatable. Im sure im in the minority but a couple weeks ago i didnt see $1000 worth of quality over the 19 kx when i was at the dealership. You got to remember that $1000 can be used to tailer a kx more to your liking than an out of the box ktm. Youre not sacrificing estart weight, hydro clutch or suspension anymore like 2018.

Kawi OTD price is $10,252 & the husky is over $11,100. Basically $1000.

I’d be happy too! If I could I would have a 450 and a 125

Rode a buddy of mine’s 18.5 rockstar edition yesterday, came away really impressed. Definitely more so than the regular ‘18 FC I had ridden previously

You can manipulate all you want to fit your agenda. It is still not as much as you are claiming it to be...

11,100-10,250=850

Simple fucking math again bro.

Yes , I get your point and I was joking.

I am contemplating selling my fc450, since owning a 10k dirt bike just seems stupid in hindsight

Oh my mistake i thought u meant you got offered 3 like recently and we're defending it.

I totally get where ur coming from but They do hold their value well if you sell them while they are still a current generation it seems.

I bought a leftover 17 350 when rebates were available and got it for almost 2k under msrp.

I am torn on what ill get next. I could sell it and probably get a left over rmz or kx450 for about what i get for the husky 1.5 seasons later. Tempting but also the husky works so well hard to switch it up.

I'm torn as well. Like really torn. So many different bikes I'd like to try out , and at this point I'm more confused on what I want. 450.....probably a Kawi. 250F would be a Husky. Get a new 250 2 stroke...Husky! Why oh why can't I be rich!?!?
