I feel that a movie that would resemble Prefontaine would be the best portrayal.

The most glaring example I can think of is the documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys" which was brilliant.
But then Hollywood tried to make it into a movie- "Lords of Dogtown", and it sucked so bad it wasn't even funny. Even with a couple of the main guys from "Dogtown and Z-Boys" involved with the production (Stecyk and Peralta), it was pathetically unwatchable. If they couldn't get it right, there is zero hope for anyone else.
What Chip said is pretty much spot on.

I had never heard of him until it came out on Netflix. Cool But the way the movie is depicted is great.

Motocrossed has 6.8 rating on imdb... wow! Gotta love the movie poster for it, looks like it was created in MS paint:

Anybody ever seen this one? Looks hilarious if the poster is anything to go by:

Fair enough.

The real problem is there isn't a big enough story in our sport to justify the costs of making a movie the purists want to see (and won't bash here), and the general public can relate to enough so they run to the theatre and spend their cash.

Chip summed it up perfectly.

I've thought about this for years.

I would make it a drama. Because everyone here seems to love it so much

There is that rediculous 'dance moms' show, so how about 'mx mini dads'? I for one would watch it!

Loved that movie as a kid.
Here's another one from 1970 with "Broadway" Joe Namath.
Touching plot Dizzy .... 1 %'er becomes MX'er. Gets factory Kawi ride, and gets the girl. (Ann Margaret), but can't escape his outlaw biker roots.
