Whats yall's experience with camping at the track vs getting a hotel near by? I've done both but only did hotels with my dad when I was a kid. It was fun for me staying in a hotel with my dad with both bikes in the room but I don't know if it was a pain in the ass for him.

My wife wants a camper but I don't want to put the wear on my truck and I love my truck too much.

I like hotel.
I don't party, so I won't be up and out whoopin' and a hollerin' til late.

I also like hot showers.
Soft beds are nice too
Oh, and real toilets

Yeah, I like hotels

I like both, If going a far distance for only one or two nights I like the hotel, aint trying to pull my toy hauler 12 hours.

When at the hotel though, you miss hanging out and slamming beers with your buddy’s. And my kids miss hanging out riding pit bikes

Taking a break from drinking right now myself, and we’re going to mini o’s next week. Brining the toy hauler cause only 2.5 hours away and 7 nights, wouldn’t mind the nice holiday in there though since I’m not drinking....

Camp for me. I like the whole race weekend experience. I don't party all night but I do cook a little BBQ and ride a little Mountain bike around the facility the night before. I'm not leaving my bikes out in the parking lot of any hotel.. enclosed trailer or not. I'll sleep better knowing my bikes are in sight of where I rest my head.
Best camper setup out there IMO is a Funmover. I don't have one but I want one because I do understand about wear and tear on your truck and I don't like it either.

I like travel trailer and camping at the track. Nothing like waking up and all you got to do is put on your gear and get on the bike. Much more relaxing to me.

There's definitely pros and cons about both. I rather sleep at the track but when it gets super hot or cold the hotel is definitely a better option than my moto van without heat or AC. I still rather drink and hang with everyone the night before and sleep in a little longer in the morning so that's my preferred option.

Depends, If I can talk my dad into coming along and staying in a motorhome I'll take that all day long. I enjoy the camping experience, nothing beats the waking feeling like you got beat up before you hop on your bike to race.

Been at this 16 years. Ever since son was 4 on 50s

We use the camper less and less, like Hiltons and Holiday Inns with an enclosed trailer with air conditioning

I race Hare Scrambles and a year and a half ago I bought a toy hauler to camp at the track. Great in theory but I store my camper at a storage facility so If I go to the races Friday I generally go pick it up Tuesday to get it loaded and ready. Get to the track late Friday night and set up. Saturday is pretty chill supporting other club members that race Saturday. Race on Sunday morning and then breakdown and haul home, dump the black tanks at the gas station, unload bikes at home, clean camper, take back to storage and come home and collapse in a heap. I've decided to hotel a few more times. I can stash my bike at the track with trusted friends and have a comfortable nights sleep.

I like getting there. Getting settled and then just focusing on the weekend. Not worrying about my shit when I’m gone. Even though I don’t worry about it. But it’s still nice to be there on site with hot water and a generator.

Hotels get to be real expensive if you’re doing it a lot. Might as well just keep the money in your rig. But then maintenance and upkeep and i don’t know. Tough question. Do what you feel works for you.

But....happy wife. Happy life....

I'm a very light sleeper so I'm hotel all the way. Mini parents up drinking all night and running generators for the AC in their trailers means I don't get much sleep.

For me, I Rock up to the hotel Saturday, check in, throw my stuff in the room then head to the track to have a look and meet up with people. Then it's off to have dinner somewhere, shower and bed. Get up in the morning, throw my stuff in the ute and head to the track. Just a whole lot less to do than setting up camp

When I was on mini bikes there were about 3 or 4 families and we always stayed at the same caravan parks, went out for dinner together and us kids all hung out together

Depends on how far the hotel is from the track. I love my 5th wheel toy hauler but for just one night its a pain to get loaded and then unloaded and cleaned. There is NO substitute for a hot shower...

Been hitting races since 78, in the end, Hotels win for me. Seems like if it is a 3-4 night trip, camper is great unless its 105, or below freezing. The hotel has it all depending on your budget, even a cheap one has the basics you treasure after several days in a dirt hole. The camper gives you the entire Moto experience, with grilling, drinking, laughing at kids doing the same shit you did 30 years go, making new friends, etc.... But that whole experience of having breakfast made for you, your bed made, fresh towels, room clean and comfy after a day of work, all ready once you get back in the evening, seems really nice to me. Add in possible dinner at the same hotel, or possibly close by, after a long hot shower, sure beats paying for all stuff that goes along with a camper. Plus, laundry service..... you gotta love clean clothes
They both have their strong points, but to me the work with camping for longer spells just isn't worth the hassle. Racing alone is work enough, eliminating headaches any way you can is a win. After a full season, the money spent on both damn near breaks even once you break it all down......unless your rig goes south somewhere.

Camper! Mid-moto shower was my little secret weapon to relax the muscles and get the blood flowing. Nearly nobody does it and it works like a charm. Your welcome.

Dear Texan,

Happy Wife, Happy Life.

Get a Toy Hualer and settle this. You can find something that your truck can tow without any harm.

Good Luck and See Ya at the Races!

I think campers are the way to go, assuming you don’t have to store it at an offsite lot when not being used.

Also depends on bike security. Are they going to be safe at the hotel either in the bed of the truck or locked in a cargo van. If you don't bring them in the room, are you going to stress about them through the night.
Camper at the track is the way to fly.

I only do poker runs throughout Washington state and occasionally in California. I just camp and keep it simple.
I’ve posted these pics before but, nothing beats waking up to this or, hanging out like this.

Geez. How do you get good results doing that? I feel like I’d never make it back out in time before my moto was over!

We camp. Camping is great at a motocross track and a campground, until you’re next to assholes. But I’ve been in hotels with the same situation so.....🤷‍♂️

Yeah! And someone makes the bed, picks up the dirty towels in the corner, vaccumms the dirt........yeah I like it. I'm in one now before a bigger vet race in NC.

Plus, overall its cheaper. I use a Promaster van., unmarked and typically have 3 bikes in it.

No trailer payment and no toylauler payment. For racing it can't be beat. But if you like camping, throw out the monetary benefit of staying at a hotel.
