Had a buddy way back when that used to have one of those. Rode it for years , stuck it in the barn and I'm pretty sure it's been sitting there for a good 30yrs now. Good bike back then too from what I remember.

BTW....I think it's an 81' - 82 with the color of the stickers on the side plates. Same as what was on my 82' RM125 ( color wise ) of what I had on my tank.

Those were not so great in my memory.....Suzuki made those as a parts-bin special "playbike" in 175 and 250cc.....using outdated RM bits and pieces leftover from the twin shock bikes. You could buy the PE175 and get Full Floater single shock suspension, bigger forks, aluminum swingarm etc. etc.

A buddy of mine has an old RS250 model and loves it for plonking around in the woods.....

I bought one of those in 1982 after I finished Seminary. Used to ride up to the homes of members of the congregation and ask if their motorcycle riding kids could "come out to play".

I bought the RS 175 because it was a bit mellower than the KDX 175, which I thought would be too much bike for me at the time. After moving and not having any place to ride, I cleaned it up, put it in my vw van, drove it to my parents house, but a bow on it and gave it to my nephews for Christmas.

They ran the be-geebers outta the thing, then got quads.

Here is my old 1979 RM 50.
They also used the colors in 79.

Now that you're all grown up, I have a 79 RM60 on top of my office that you need. It's the next logical step up. Smile Needs a little resto work, comes with a few new pieces of plastic.

Hahaha. Awesome.

We ended up switching to Yamaha for 80 & 81.
Ran a YZ 50 punched out to a 65 I believe - we had to keep up with those ItalJet's on that dog of a minicycle. Smile
Not sure if this was an 80 or an 81.But I'll guess 1980 was a dog stock.

Hey,Newmann you ever see many close to mint/good condition complete ItalJets from back in those days?
I always wanted one. Dad would never fork out the $$$ for one.

Never see any Italjets. Would love to have one of those badass little 50's! I do have a rather nice 1980 YZ50 like yours in the pic, and I can build a nice crate. Might even trade for gun stuff if you happen to know someone with an overabundance of that type stuff....Whistling

That's an 80 YZ 60 I'm standing by I believe in this pic.
I think they came with a big fat #1 on the plates also.
That was Britt Woodrings bike when he first got it.
That's Britt in the Honda Jersey - they just had upgraded from a MR50 he was racing.

81 YZ60 if anyone "needs" one...

That's sweet.
I see the different in what he was talking about with the graphics now.
The one I was standing by must have been a 1980.
How much is current fair market value on those these days - meaning what are folks paying for them?

Here is one of the ones like what I would love to have.
Except complete with manual ect...

Don't think there ever was a 80 model YZ60, just the YZ50 which was a one year only bike.

I bought the 50 and the 60 about 10-12 years ago when the vintage thing was rolling pretty strong. Gave $1300.00 each plus freight for them because I wanted nice ones for a mini collection. The 50 wasn't as unrestored as the seller claimed, but still original and for the most part unmolested. Now I'm just a Mini Elsinore and Mugen addict, not much desire to keep the YZ's. Value still boils down to condition and what someone is willing to pay.

Suzuki had a ton of trail/playbike/enduro models in the late 70s and early 80s it seemed.
There was what, DS, TS, RS, and PE?

I think your right about the 1980's.
It may have had a 65 kit in it like mine.
Maybe it was the next year we got 60s.

That thing is big for a 50. Almost looks like a 80. Smile

Those little KS 50's were ugly but fast.
I can remember getting pulled up hills & beat on the starts by those little KS's on my RM50.
They were pretty light and uber fast.Once we got the YZ50 and put the 65 kit in it - I could dust them.

Oh yeah.
One of the Aussies that come on here used to race one ,if my memory serves me correct.
I remember him showing me pics one time,I think.
I think it was maybe surf shop Kong or MotoDude.... Cant remember who.
He was talking about as a kid going into the shop every day and sitting on one,I think before he got one.

Yep.

DS was a four-stroke trail bike, TS a two stroke "enduro", (street-biased dual purpose), RS a two stroke trail bike and PE their off-road only two stroke enduro racing machine.

My two main riding buddies in the early 80's had RS's, a 175 and a 250. Together we cut our teeth on harescrambles racing- the old Wiseco 100-miler series that morphed into GNCC. Including the infamous Blackwater 100.

Good times.

Definitely not a 79. Probably 81-82. The fenders in 79 were squared off like the pic of the 50 in this thread.
