85cc world champion in 2012, 5th in the world on 125s, fails to qualify for the 250 support class. Poor kid. Jay Wilson was also an 85cc champion but is now battling to qualify in MX2.

Is it MA's fault?

Jay Wilson did ok in the first MX2 race, Cant find the results atm but I remember him being inside the top 20, Hunter Lawrence has speed but keeps crashing.

I reckon we need a GP of Australia, might help get some sort of program together to help propel juniors to try overseas or get top pros more interested to do the tour.

I think that would be good too. I'm spewing Caleb Ward raced MX2 in Australia in 2016 and didn't go into EMX250 last year. He would have a way better chance at MX2 this year. Scrap Indo and hold it in Aus CoolCool

1. It's a deep field.
2. So many factors involved: Bike setup, Confidence, Physical condition, to name a few.
3. Huge cultural obstacles for a young Aussie to move to/live in Europe. (Leaving familiarity and support behind)

Just one of these factors can derail a season. Ask Ryan Villapoto

He didn't ride MX2 last year, he was still a junior and raced the 15 year old class at the junior Nationals. Got 3rd by memory, but had the speed to win. Caleb came and rode at my house last year and he is a good kid and comes from a super nice family. He lost a lot of ground when he lost 2 fingers and had a lot of time off the bike. He will get back to his best and up front where he belongs as he is one of those riders with freakish raw speed and a shit tonne of desire.

Jed (Beaton) does good, I think most people underestimated him.

Caleb was riding juniours last year in australia, doing 10mins+1lap motos. Just as hunter was. Its a big change. The tracks are so much more wide open and faster. He will qualify in the sand next weekend. Its going to take a while for the aussies to get use to the racing. Beaton had top 5 speed this weekend but being a bigger guy, he struggles with starts. Its hard to come through the pack when everyone is the nearly the same speed. Lawrence didnt crash the first moto he had a bike problem. It comes down to qualifying. He was only 15th in time practice. Which led to a bad start in the qualifying race and bad starts in the two motos. Not saying its an excuse but think those ktms/huskys are faster then the suzukis in a straight line Jeremy seewer looks like has to work his bike so much more to compete with them.

Trentino is a really tough track if you're not used to racing in that part of the world. It's a million miles different to anything he would've experienced in Australia. The EMX250 is crazy and stacked. There are guys who didn't qualify this week and be top 10 next week in the sand, and the Italians who were great this week will struggle to qualify next week, just the way it is

I was definitely hoping that since Ward did so well in 2015 he would have called it a day and tried to progress further and hit EMX250 for 2016 followed by MX2 in 2017.
It's good that there are so many aussie's abroad. I think our next best hope is Mellross and Lawrence (will see him do way better in 2018 and 19 when he'll be 19 and 20 years old)

I dont believe he had any international offers after 2015 only domestic stuff in aus with KTM
