In his interview this morning at High Point with JT he said "at the moment" about three times when asked about not doing any more races. I think he also said he'd like to stay but not sure about that one. Any one else see it?

Hope he does so well today he has to stay.

Looks like he's having a great time and those photos with McGrath, Villopoto, Sexton and family get togethers with Kenny and Marvin are priceless. Check them out in the Thanks Tony thread if you haven't seen them.

Seems like this could be the last one. He said the adventure is over for now, but he'd like to do some more rounds later. Damn shame we probably won't see him for a while if at all, he's definitely on pace today.

I figured he would at least want to do the Red Bud round to get a feel for the track but I guess not. Sad. Hope KTM can work something out for him. Love seeing him out there!

He is leaving after today. He's already stated that.

Qualified fourth only .10 off of Kenny and Chase and not too far off JA. Maybe today is his day.

He has more 30s under his belt, getting use to bike and the steady improvement every race is starting to show.

I know it is a lot of ifs, but if the track can be a little slower, bumpy and technical and he doesn't lose everyone after the first 5 laps where he has struggled to find the intensity, maybe he can podium today.

Be nice way to finish the trip.

It would be nice if KTM paid him.

If I were him I would keep racing for free if KTM provides the bike. They may not want to keep running three guys.

Well, doesn't look like Plessinger will be getting any bonus money, what if Cairloli puts an electrical tape #7 on his bike?

He definitely wants to stay, he is having fun. Unfortunately ktm isn’t playing ball but it does sound like he is going to do a couple more when things get ironed out.

He's the top KTM rider at this point. If KTM does nothing for that guy, that would just blow my mind.

With everything that AC222 has done for KTM I’d hope that something is in the works just out of respect alone. Sometimes the brass with passion need to trump the bean counters IMO.

That's the only reason he's racing in the US right now.

Understood, but as a 9x champion if he wants to stroke a AMA outdoor schedule off his bucket list you give that to him.
As already mentioned, he’s the top KTM rider atm, their top rider is sitting out and the attraction value he’s pulling to the sport, (and KTM) by riding here is HUGE. I’m still optimist that something is in the works. KTM and Redbull have way to much money to not make this happen.

Tony needs around 8k a weekend to cover his expenses.

I’ll legitimately start a GoFund Me and we can pay him $8k start money to race Red Bud?

We should be able to do that pretty easily I’d think?

The guy's a millionaire.
His boss and main sponsor owner are billionaires.
Why the heck should YOU pay for his holidays?

Who cares? If the man says that’s what he wants and enough people think it’s worth it - why not? I’ve spent 10 bucks on many dumber things than watching Tony race Red Bud.

I like the heck out of AP, but damn he looks and has been bad on the KTM compared to his Yamaha under Star. That fact (and it is a fact) plus the issues with Coop this SX season not gelling with the bike, not letting Marv ride the outdoors when he wanted to, and not funding Tony for the rest of the outdoors makes KTM look like a fucking shit-show. The only bright spots are getting to see Dungey ride again and a short few rounds with AC. Ian and Roger need to figure some things out because its not a good look for KTM.

Dare I say I'm much more impressed with Dungey than I've been with Cairoli?

How about if you knew next year you'd be left without a job and any education at age 37? Nothing wrong with trying to make as much money as you can while you still can.
Most professional athletes are broke within 3 years of retirement

And who shows up to a job not getting paid where you literally risk YOUR LIFE for no pay. NO ONE. This is a dumb take.

Considering the fact that I had announced my retirement the year before anyways, still maybe.

Why would anybody ride or race on their own dime, since we’re all risking our lives right?

Has it ever crossed your mind that some of these guys actually love riding dirtbikes and competing wether they’re paid or not? Tony has stated multiple times that it’s been a big goal of his for a long time to race some nationals.

If he wasn’t happy with the deal he wouldn’t even be here

He also didn’t even want to race the whole series because he didn’t like the idea of being away from home that long.

If you had the intellect and work ethic to earn and put a few million away, you would use that knowledge to negotiate a contract. that reflects your worth.

Maybe, just maybe, he's thinking not just about himself. He's thinking about his HOT ASS, sorry I had to say it, wife and kid. There are sometimes I think, really? How much money do you need you're multi-millionaire? Sometimes I think well they're not Elon Musk or Jeff Bez and they aren't being selfish but thinking about providing for their family built on the back of their work.
