Red Bull KTM Factory rider Antonio Cairoli has decided on further scans after the swelling had subsided on his right shoulder that his season is over.
He had initially hoped to continue racing in 2019 but damage to the Subscapularis and Supraspinatus muscles meant he was advised to have surgery right away. The procedure was performed by Tom Claes (son of renowned surgeon Toon) and the former nine-times world champion is expected to leave hospital today (Sunday) to begin a recovery period that can take between three-four months.
Tony Cairoli: “It is sad to finish the championship this way and it hasn’t happened too many times in my career. When I tried to ride last week I knew I had some problems but I wanted to stay positive about the recovery. I had more scans in Belgium and the injury was much worse that we thought so they told me to have surgery right away and it was the best solution to get healthy again in the fastest way. Thanks to the team and to the fans for the support. I hope to visit a few races before the end of the season and will now concentrate on getting better.”
What this means is Tim Gajser now has a 161 points lead over Jeremy Seewer and with seven GPs to go has a three GP advantage over the Yamaha rider.

Retirement is gonna be fun!
He's under contract to race MXGP in 2020
The Shop
Get well soon TC
On a lighter note , does this mean Tim Gasjer can wrap it early enough to do some AMA rounds?
All the big names got hurt at some point, and this year we lost:
Herlings, AC, Desalle, and Febvre
This was the top 5 on paper at the beginning of the season, all title contenders.
And nothing to reduce Gajser's title, which he still has to wrap up, he is hauling exactly like Febvre when he won the championship, nobody knows if any of the 4 riders i mentioned would have won the title for sure.
It's probably not gonna happen but...
How in the world that guy just bounces off the ground is beyond me....
Pit Row
The injury list right now is brutal. It would've looked way better even if 50% of the injured riders would have been on the gate. The days of 20-25 rider gates in GPs are in most cases gone. And the trips to these places are crazy expensive, if many of the regular guys are hurt this is the result in these rounds.
But at least the next Indonesian race will be on a proper track that actually is worth being on the GP schedule.
There is no force on this planet that could stop him this year.
Lets say Gajser crashes out with like 8 motos left (200 points on the table), with a 175 point lead over the Yamaha boys, who are within 10 points of one another at the time.
What happens at Yamaha? Do they pick a rider and tell the other 2 they have to finish behind, or do they just let it play out?
US vs MXGP is now favoring the US
but Gajser vs Tomac at Assen ?? dude you forgot about the FMOTP , named Coldenhoff ... look out for Glenn at Assen
