I think Im going to go pick up a 16 CRF250R new this weekend. I was considering the KTM350SX, or even the 17 CRF450, but for 3 grand more, I cant justify it for what I will use it for. Mostly play riding at my home track, and occasional practice days.
Any suggestions on what to do first? I know they are slow but otherwise great bikes.
Im planning:
Full FMF 4.1 single and side panel swap
Stage 2 Hotcam
Remove Screen
Replace chain (Gold DID or Renthal)
Hour meter
What suspension work does it need to feel decent for a 195lb rider? Intermediate, vet mx, 36 yrs old. Respring shock? What can you do with the forks being air forks? Im not familiar with them.
Im going to sell my 14 150sx after riding it a few more months along side the Honda.

The Shop
If it's just play riding and practice days, a stock 250F will be plenty fast.
I'd have him do whatever it is you want done.
Like I said...it WAS A ROCKET. He was roosting me on my 450.
1. Gas in the tank
2. Air in the tires.
3. Oil in the engine.
Really. Just ride the snot out of that thing. When it is time to modify it, you'll know what it needs or does not need.
I can't wait that long til the 2018. I'll sell this one in a couple years max anyway. I'm in no shape to ride a 450 hard. Truth. A 250f is fun on my practice track. It's slower speed and a ltitle too tight.
Should fit this honda well maybe.
Not sure who I should sent it to, someone local in michigan is always.a plus too if it turns out good.
For just having fun and practice days, that's about all you need, seriously.
If you feel like spending money, radiator braces.
If you want to play with power, get a remap, or buy the software so you can play around with it.
If that hasn't satisfied you, get a new exhaust system (power gains in comparison to price aren't great).
Let me know, if you're interested, Shaun

Pit Row
That damn front wheel won't track in choppy ruts better than my pw50 with oem (revalved) suspension..
Back to back wins.
What are you getting with an ECU then?
